Marc is a corporate puppet that works a faulty 'insurance' salesman job for SHELL CO. that consists of standing around the entrance to the building, handing out tissues and attempting to convince passersby about how well SHELL treats him as a Dreadnaut - his goal is to recruit Dreadnauts for the use of the company. He lobbies specifically for ALTUM Labs, and aims to send as many people as possible there. He gets commission for every person he manages to lure, and the amount depends on the rarity.
During the night, he becomes more aggressive in his tactics and trawls through the nightlife in order to target his sleazy demeanor at insecure or vulnerable Dreadnauts to send them directly to ALTUM, regardless if he has to get more hands-on. He was a con artist in the past, and knows sleight of hand.
PERSONALITY
To many, Marc may appear pathetic due to his demeanor and personal styling - this is a dangerous misread, which he will freely use to his advantage. Marc has little to no moral nor ethical center; he has a simple want to get by in life and doesn’t care who he bends over for it. Egocentric in his own special way and skeptical in social situations, he tends to easily misinterpret other peoples words as personal attacks directed at him and his character. Despite this, instead of becoming upset, Marc keeps these grievances piled away in his head until the time comes for him to bite the offender in the back - regardless if they meant to offend in the first place.
Marc can be relatively sleazy, however combining this with the social abilities of his conman past actually leads to some kind of desirability. He doesn't particularly care for this, instead choosing to utilise it to great effect for his work. It's funny how you don't really think about what kind of gloves someone is wearing until you're in the back of a trunk.
present
The reason as to why Marc does these awful things for companies that couldn’t care less about him is simple: he needed a job, and he saw a listing. Although it was originally a position to promote the company, Marc took a gamble on the unethical nature of the business and decided that there’d be no problem if he started delivering results more directly. There wasn’t. As it’s considered extracurricular and his payment is off the books, Marc is not protected and does not receive benefits - despite this, he is still tied to the original legal documents he signed, in which it is made clear that any kind of defamation or harm to the image of the company will be met with severe consequences. Sloppy work isn’t an option.
past
Before his current working life at SHELL Co., Marc made a living through the wonderful art of being a confidence man. His repertoire mostly consisted of short cons and sleight of hand; he was never interested in intricate schemes, just whatever would deliver results as quickly as comfortably possible. He still engages in this from time to time, swiping expensive watches and wallets from busy crowds whenever his bank account begins to bleed.
