Childhood

Jodie was born and raised in a major city named Cherish in the country of Pavv. It was always very sunny and hot in Cherish, and there was little nature that was anywhere near the city. She was born an only child to two criminals, barely ever knowing her parents. She lived with aunt and uncle when she was young, including her seven cousins. She was dearly cared for but she always felt alienated because she didn’t have the same connection to everyone else in the family. Their family was wealthy, so she was a little spoiled.

She was always a social butterfly, charming many people. She kept up with the fashion trends and was always popular in her community. Loads of people loved her, platonically and romantically, but she wanted more to her life. She always wanted to travel, so when she reached adulthood she wished her family goodbye and began traveling the globe.

Early Adulthood

A year into her grand journey of self-exploration, she found herself in a dank jungle. She was fascinated by the people who lived in the jungle since their cultures were so different from hers. They were far more religious than any other place she’d been to, they worshipped the spirits that roamed their territory. Jodie thought this was sort of odd until she actually saw a spirit.

The spirit was named Fountain, he took a heavy liking to Jodie and even gifted her a broach. He seemed very sorrowful, but he had good character. Jodie stayed in the jungle for weeks, learning more about spirits, and Fountain gently explained to her everything. He was like a wise old grandfather teaching a hyper child.

Curse

During her stay in the jungle she felt a strange burning sensation on her thigh. Since she was where she was, she worried that she had a rash or some kind of infection. When she finally investigated what it was she found an eye shaped tattoo-like mark. She had no clue at all what that was, she thought she might ask around. It was night time when she found this out, so she was heading to bed. But then she felt a foreboding feeling, like something was about to happen. The more she focused on it, the warmer she felt. It kept getting warmer and warmer until she realized she was actually on fire. Her hands spewed fire, and she felt how hot it was but it never actually burned her. Then she panicked, and it promptly stopped.

She began understanding what that mark was. Later another day she told the spirits about it and they taught her vaguely what a curse was. But she had already overstayed her welcome, she thought, and left the jungle soon after this.

She traveled from place to place but never felt the same awe she felt at the people in the jungle. She wanted to return there after two years, but she ran into a man named Nicholas. The two briefly traveled together before Jodie slipped that she had a curse, and Nicholas (who is extremely knowledgeable on the subject) probed more into her curse. After finding out more about her, he offered her to work at the Branches. It wasn’t an instant thing for her, she wasn’t very interested. However, she eventually conceded and joined a month after Nicholas offered.

Current Day

Now Jodie is a new recruit in the Branches, learning from the elites how to properly utilize her curse and how to be just with it. She made many good friends and was eventually paired up to work with another new recruit named Tom.

Jodie is a sweetheart with a very optimistic outlook on life. She rarely takes things too seriously, but when she does she means business. She's very selfless, often trying to make others as content as possible in exchange for her own feelings.
