About...
A quiet and reclusive pygmy behemoth, Mergen has avoided attention and questions as long as he's lived in Sarens. Though the sight of a friendly behemoth is not terribly uncommon on Moondown, one as diminutive as Mergen certainly raises some brows.
Thankfully, he's most often holed up in the Clerisy's temple, transcribing their visions as part of his duties. When not there, he can be found prowling the temple's archives, committing the history of Sarens to memory and collecting his own encyclopedia. And, occasionally, he finds himself willingly submitting to Sastya's experiments and studies.
After all - it's not like he's not curious about his origins. Though there are a few other pygmy behemoths in the Serene City, only Mergen was actually born within the capital's limits - a fact that befuddles and puzzles him to this day. If only he could discover his creator....
Personality...
Bookish and doesn't like being interrupted. An introverted loner who tolerates people so long as they either appeal to his interests or have something he wants. Has a few very close confidantes he's willing to be more open around, and remains loyal to them even when they push his buttons.
Deep inside, wishes he'd been a Kirin instead, and has a deep fascination for them.

Powers...
Mergen is a "pygmy behemoth" - more accurately a type of puppet, which is an inanimate object made animate through acquiring large quantities of magic. This is a separate process than the creation of a proper behemoth, which is when an un-sapient animal collects magic.
Pygmy behemoths are a puppet that has gained true sentience, identity, and sense of self, similar to a Kirin - although the process for pygmys is much slower. As with all the magic-born creatures, pygmy behemoths can sense items, objects, and people who are highly imbued with magic, and are drawn to locations with large quantities of magic.
