Briske was born into Keracona always intended to be fostered. This is a very common situation in modern Naulien due to a current population crisis and is not treated as a negative thing. Fostered children are fully supported and looked after until they reach 25 years old. Briske got very used to this easy lifestyle. 

Now he is reaching the age his support will be cut off and he's expected to fend for himself. He suddenly developed a sense of entitlement from his biological parents and managed to steal his records and find out who they were, which was never supposed to happen. He tracked down his father who was not impressed by his efforts and refused to help him, he was not his responsibility but with enough relentless, annoying pestering he at the very least got him a job as a servant... which Briske was thrilled about /sarcasm.

He has a habit of blaming everyone else for anything that goes wrong or being deluded and overinflating his self worth. If people don't like him, he's too good for them. If they don't like the same things, they have no taste. If he doesn't get the job, he must be over qualified, If a girl turns him down, she's a prudish bitch who's ugly anyway. He is never the problem.
