Ghost lives for the bit. They die for the bit. Once they've committed to something they do not give up, this is their main consistent personality trait. Ghost is hard to get a read on, as they can be soft and sweet one moment, and laughing over everyone's misery the next. The truth is Ghost will quickly assess a situation and become whatever they think will result in the funniest outcome. They're sarcastic, confident, witty, mischievous. They do not actively try to bring harm to others unless they have a good reason, but their idea of what counts as "harmless" may not always be in line with the common interpretation. They mainly look out for themself and do not care for others. There are, of course, exceptions to this. Often when they get attached to someone, it's out of curiosity. If someone is interesting enough to them, they can become very good friends with them.

- Ghost changed their name soon after their death. This name change was fueled by spite for the person who killed them, and a recognition that this is all they are now. And because it's funny.

Before.
Easier Times
Ghost's past is rather hazy in detail. They don't care enough to explain their past to anyone. But here's what they have revealed.
Ghost was some kind of humanoid species. They were in their equivelent of mid 20s when they died. They've always been known for their mischief, though they were much kinder with that mischief in their youth. They've gotten into a fair amount of trouble with the law, but talked their way out of it every time. They had few people they could consider a friend.
Unfortunately nobody noticed or cared when they went missing.

The unfortunate encounter (CW: Kidnapping, forced experimentation)
It was just bad luck that he had chosen them. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. He had managed to surprise them, restrain them, and took them far away. They were unable to get much of any clue of how far they'd gone, or where. When they were allowed back to their senses, they were in some kind of lab, and their captor immediately put them to work.
"Work" in this case was to help him with his experiments. He was a bit of a scientist in a world of magic. While Ghost could understand the "what" of the experiments he conducted, they could never figure out the "why". They didn't know what his end goal was, what the point of any of it was. They just knew what part they played. He called them a lab assistant, and sometimes that felt like an accurate description when they were both allowed to speak and had an actual interest in the experiment. They were more often the experiment itself rather than an assistant.
The convential methods of escape didn't work out for Ghost, so they opted to bear the horrors and wait. They simply observed. It was shockingly easy to gain information once they proved to him they were so happy to be here and would make no attempt to escape. It didn't take long to form a new escape plan.
Days before their grand escape, a bad calculation made one of the experiments explode with Ghost inside. In an instant, they were dead.
Angels.
Paradise's agents love to bargain
Ghost found themself reformed in the presence of an angel, who immdiately went on a long ramble about how she weren't sure if they would be allowed into paradise. Ghost had managed to be an entirely neutral person throughout their life, and the angel just felt sooo bad for them! So, she was going to make them a deal! She could grant Ghost easy access into paradise, all they had to do was protect their murderer! Bodyguard him and keep him safe! In some amount of time, when she felt their good deed of keeping someone safe had overweighed the mischief and chaos they'd caused, she would open the stairway to paradise for them! She seemed very pleased with herself as she explained this deal, almost like she was patting herself on the back.
Ghost gave her the sweetest smile and a bright cheery laugh, and said of course. They would be honored to. They would be more than happy to. This deal was more than fair, of course, of course. The angel laughed too, not catching the hints of sheer malice in Ghost's expression, and they shook hands sealing the deal.
They returned to the lab they had died in, and explained the deal to him, their smile never once faltering. Together they learned the rules of Ghost's new predicament; they were unable to leave farther than 100 feet from him, unless he was in danger from something farther and Ghost intended to handle it; Ghost required no sleep, food, or water to function, but could if they wanted to; and they could no longer be harmed. The last rule was a disappointment to their murderer, since they were no longer capable of being the center of his experiments. Ah well. He'd just have to find someone else! They began to prepare for a journey to find some new soul to bring back. Ghost smiled.
Years.
A moment in the view of an angel.
It was years before Ghost's angel would return to them. In those years, they had done exactly what they were asked. They protected him through everything, even through the disaster that struck the world, throwing it all into chaos. He had slowly changed over the years with their companionship, becoming softer, regretful. He told them several times he wished he hadn't caused them so much pain. He knew now just how incredible they were. They'd gone through so much together, and they always kept him safe. They always kept him warm and happy. He was starting to think that maybe he hadn't deserved that kindness.
The angel appeared in front of the two of them and congratulated Ghost on a job well done. Their years of dedication had more than proved they were worthy of paradise. She opened up the stairway for them, telling them they should leave as soon as they were ready. Ghost could hardly believe it. They asked her, sounding in shock, if their deal was complete. She said yes, yes the deal was complete. They had finished their task. The stairway was theirs.
Ghost turned back towards the scientist. He felt... conflicted. He was so happy for them, but he wasn't ready for them to leave. A selfish part of him wanted them to stay. As they approached him for one final act before they would leave, he struggled to say anything at all to them. He began to try to express all the emotions and thoughts inside him, failing to notice how quickly their hand was reaching for his neck.
They left him bloody and dead on the floor. The angel could only stare. The deal was over and there was nothing she could do. Her end of the bargain had to be upheld. Ghost had always known she would have to. They pranced up the stairs, laughing all the way to their paradise.
It's unclear whether Ghost struggles to feel romantic attraction due to potentially being on the aro spectrum, or just doesn't care enough to act on any romantic attraction. Either way, Ghost's partners are few and far between. If Ghost does end up with any kind of partner, they must be an incredibly specific kind of person for Ghost to begin even caring about them that much.
In the event that someone does manage to hit Ghost's very specific criteria to be their partner, Ghost would be unendingly loyal to them. Ghost's motives and desires would shift, still mainly revolving around their own pleasure, but their partner's joy would become a close second.
Ghost isn't exactly a family person. They'd never divulge what their family was like, but it's fairly easy to correctly presume they didn't get along well. Ghost isn't exactly easy to get close to or get along with. They're too petty and spiteful to let anything go. It's difficult for casual acquaintances to avoid Ghost's list of grudges, it'd be a million times worse for family members.
They probably sucked anyways. Nobody even went looking for Ghost when they disappeared.
Ghost is an incredibly ride or die friend. They'll claim it's because their friends are people they find entertaining, and being ride or die and protective means they get to keep this entertainment around longer. This is true. They just do also care about their friends.
Ghost is very very protective of their friends, though they won't express that in obvious ways. Ghost is more one for subtlety. Like waiting until their friend has left the room to maim the person that was slightly mean to them. Ghost is unable to take themself too seriously so they're not the best at any kind of emotional comfort, but they do their best to keep their friends in situations where they're able to be silly. Ghost will also not ask their friends if they want Ghost to do that. Ghost knows what they need 💖
Ghost doesn't typically have acquaintances. The only difference between a stranger and an acquaintance to them is the fact that they have gathered basic information about an acquaintance and will adjust how they act accordingly.
Ghost treats strangers all the same kind of way. With curiosity. They love to see the way people react to their flippant obnoxious personality. Ghost is pretty good at reading people and likes to try to gather clues on what people are like to start piecing them together in their head. Even if Ghost will never see a stranger again, whatever information about their personality Ghost can gather is committed to memory, just in case.
Outside of the fun of learning everything they can about a stranger, Ghost has a chill attitude towards strangers. They don't start things off by being unkind, but won't go out of their way to keep a stranger comfortable. They're not disrespectful, but will not act like there is respect to give.
Ghost does not relent when they make enemies. They will do anything to keep themself feeling like they're on top. You cannot win a war with Ghost because they do not stop until they've felt victory and have taunted you with it. Making enemies is a game to them. Once they make an enemy they cannot think about anything else until they've won. Everything they do will revolve around their enemy until they've had their fill. Once they've finished, they treat their enemies almost like an object, discarding them and never addressing their existence again.
Detested.
Ghost has NEVER hated someone more. It was bad enough he practically tortured and killed them. He's also a fucking idiot and not always in the fun way. Ghost despises this man with every fiber of their being. Ghost happily dedicated years to being kind to him because they knew that would make it all the much more satisfying and easy to kill him in the end. Their inevitable betrayal was all they could ever think about during all those years. Killing him is their greatest accomplishment. They'll never regret a thing.
Friend
Something about Pandora's kicked dog energy made Ghost decide she was entertaining enough to keep around. They met her a year or two after their death, after she opened the box and pissed off the gods. Ghost loves how much the gods hate her specifically, so they've done their best to help her evade them, within the limits of their bodyguarding deal. They would probably follow her around everywhere if they weren't physically incapable of wandering too far from their murderer.
Enemy
Apollo is the angel Ghost made the deal with. They think she's a pathetic idiotic disgusting horrible asshole who is easily fooled. The way she seemed so proud of herself, like a hero, for forcing Ghost into a deal involving spending more time with the one that killed them. It pissed Ghost the fuck off. If they could kill her they would have.
