Michi grew up in the United States, always having an appreciation for the arts, including music. They were popular as a child but as they grew their social circle shrunk. In high school, on a whim, they auditioned for Pastel Ent. online. When they were accepted, they hesitated but were encouraged by their family to go to Korea alone to begin training. There, they met some of their fellow members and another member named Lina. They became close with Mei, who studied to further their Mandarin together and learning Korean from the rest of the training group.
They underwent a lot of discrimination in training along with Mei, but persevered into debut, becoming friends with the famous Dream member, Eunae. Michi received many collaborations from Eunae and became known as the most popular and most prolific member of the Angels, especially after they debuted in a sub-unit with 5Crush's Seunghyun.
