- Harper experiences strange phenomena regarding his appearance. He was born with brown hair, but there were a few instances in his life where woke up with white hair instead; only for it to change back to brown a few years later. He has experienced this hair color change four times. Currently, he has brown hair in his waking life, while his dream self always had white hair regardless of his current state in the real world.
- Harper lives with his mother, and they currently reside in his late grandmother's home which they inherited. His mother is trying to turn the house into a bed and breakfast, which Harper helps out with. Otherwise, he doesn't work or have a college education. Due to some strange circumstances surrounding his birth, his mother his overprotective of him and she is more than willing to have him live with her for as long as he wants.
- Harper spends a lot of time sleeping due to his narcolepsy. He tires easily and can sleep anywhere, regardless of comfort. When it comes to sleeping, Harper's seen it all; sleep paralysis, hypnagogia, night terrors, sleep apnea, sleep talking, you name it. He snores occasionally, but his mother reports that he is more likely to sleep in complete silence and without movement, as if he is in a coma. Harper has kept dream journals his whole life, as he remembers them vividly.
- Harper uses he/him pronouns and refers to himself as a boy, but he does not conform to traditional expectations of masculinity. Sometimes people refer to him as a girl and he does not correct them, as it doesn't bother him; in fact, he doesn't even notice when this happens unless someone points it out. He doesn't think too much about his gender identity, and may only refer to himself as a boy since he has never considered other options.
- Harper has two older brothers, and his father died when he was four years old. He doesn't remember his father hardly at all, but his brothers were old enough to be deeply effected by the loss, resulting in a troubled home life for all of them. Harper has mixed feelings about his brothers, as they treated him poorly when he was a kid, but he didn't realize the extent of it until he was an adult. He avoids talking to them if he can.
- Harper has had feline companions all of his life, and he has a soft spot for any and all cats. His current cat, Bonkers, is his best friend and they are always together when Harper is at home. Harper spoils Bonkers a little too much and this shows with his size.
- The only reason Harper plays the piano is because his mother forced him to, as he refused to participate in any other extracurricular activities growing up, such as sports.
