nightingale lives with his brother, cormorantberry, in the outpost. the outpost houses a sizeable colony of cats whose numbers change every season with the frequent travelers they host. they're both designated tour guides of the outpost, showing newcomers around or informing regular vistors of changes the outpost has undergone since their last stay. though well informed of the surrounding territories, their guides frequently end messily, with them constantly competing to out-do the other. this applies to near every aspect of their lives and often requires the intervention of the outpost council members, snakewood in particular. outside of being a guide of the outpost, nightingale enjoys deciphering human texts, frequently seen with a well-worn satchel that carries a smaller book or two. he's quite book-smart and a proficient hunter but is ruled by his emotions and relies often too heavily on convoluted plans of his own design.
