Arlo was born to his doting mother Anibis, and his estranged father Amadius. Anibis loved her son, and tried to raise him up to be better than his father was, hoping that Arlo would take on a more legal profession, compared to the pirate life that Amadius lived, and what ultimately made him disappear from their lives one day.

"Yo ho, yo ho,"

Arlo's childhood was good, his mother taught him, fed him, clothed him. He loved his mother, and the stories she told about about the sea that surrounded their homeland. He got his yearning for the sea from those stories, and from his father. His father was neer around much, and when he was around, Arlo saw him as a stranger, not a father. The two never had a good relationship, the only thing they talked about was the sea and the places Amadius had seen. Arlo's mother would usually stop the conversations when they reached talk of pirates and brawls. "Silly man and your stories, pay him no attetion Arlo, you simply cannot make a living by being a theif." she would mutter, glaring daggers at the elder pirate sitting at her table. However, all that discouraging Anibis did, fell on deaf ears, his dreams soon turning from the life of normalcy his mother wanted for him, to living like the man he started to idolize.

By the time the young Arlo was 16, he was enthralled by the pirate life. His father had since not visited him and his mother for five years, no sight of the ship he sailed docking at the pier, or tales of Amadius and his wild adentures. His heart yearned to travel the seas, and that is just what he did. Short passages on boats, from place to place, different crews, new faces. He loved it, and when he was 22, he found himself on a new ship, with yet another new crew, excited to see what was in store for him this time.
