Having had their status essentially summed up to nothing, their experience and service also having been made declared as useless, left Petra especially bitter. It was at this point that she had sworn to shatter any gem that even came near, trying to speak of peace and finding 'true meaning in their lives.' She didn't need their pity, the status they had been given was their life and their purpose.
Enter Charoite, who had heard rumors of an especially agressive organic type of gem who had already shattered a few gems. And with Heliodor's knowledge, he came to realize that this was likely a petrified wood, which left him incredibly nervous to even approach. But with some encouraging words of how they were looking to restore their own statuses, they saved themselves from a shattering session and instead gained a powerful and cruel ally.
