Liu Minsheng

He was born in San José, Costa Rica, his parents are from China. Minsheng was never a very quiet child, he had hyperactivity and attention deficit problems, so it was quite a challenge for him to study.

With difficulty, he finished his studies and managed to enter college, where he studied gastronomy. However, he abandoned his career in Costa Rica and went to study gastronomy in China. When he finished his studies, he started working in an elegant restaurant as a chef since he had entered due the recommendation of his teachers. Over time he discovered that working in a gourmet restaurant was not his thing and decided to travel to his native country to open his restaurant.

Once he arrived in Costa Rica, he moved to Puerto Viejo de Limón where he opened a casual Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant. The restaurant was simple but gained popularity for having great quality.

His parents sent Iris, Minsheng's sister, to live with him in Puerto Viejo de Limón so that she could learn from him. Minsheng gave her a job and a place to live, but life on the beach is very relaxed.

Minsheng had the opportunity to open a traditional Chinese restaurant in the new Chinatown, so he doesn't think it twice and decided to open a Chinese fusion restaurant in downtown San José. He decides to keep his restaurant in Puerto Viejo de Limón and he and his sister move to San José, this restaurant has a youthful vibe.

Every two weeks either Minsheng or Iris visits Puerto Viejo de Limón to see how the restaurant is going without them.

His mother taught him how to cook since he was a child, it was a way to keep him distracted and use all his energy on something. He learned all their family recipes and started to create his own recipes when he was just in high school. His parents were proud that he had such great skill in the kitchen.

Nowadays Minsheng has gained a little fame for being a creative chef who doesn’t fear to try a new ways of cooking.

He always dreamed of living at the beach, Minshen developed a relaxed and “No Worries” attitude. For this reason, when he moved to Puerto Viejo de Limón, he felt that it was paradise for him.

He escapes from the city whenever he can, so he can return to his beach house. Lately, he takes his friend Shen with him.
