Arden Ivara

The youngest son of the Ivara family. The Ivara clan is known throughout the entire country of Prisma for their powerful floral magic, which practically runs in their veins, similar to the Aren family. However, unlike the Arens, the Ivara clan focuses more on their place on the battlefield. Each member of the Ivaras, when they have had time to develop their magic, will receive the mark of a flower that best fits them. This mark symbolizes their readiness to truly take up the mantle of being an Ivara and their proof of magical ability.

Arden was initially a very promising member of the family. He wasn't prodigy-level, but he was progressing in his training nicely and saw a bright future shaping ahead of him. Though, his success with his training caused him to become too overzealous on one fateful day. When he was 8, the worst occurred. In an attempt to really prove himself to his family and his mentors, Arden took on a beast attacking their town, causing him to cast magic too powerful for his body to handle. The magic then turned on him and permanently blinded him in his left eye. From then on, Arden was closely watched by his friends and his family, and became pitied by his family for causing everyone to become disappointed in him.

Arden rarely left his room, and when he did in an attempt to practice more magic, he was usually sent away under the belief that the work was too tough or too dangerous for him. Despite his best efforts, Arden always found himself at a loss, feeling stuck in life and unable to do anything about it.

However, Arden is not purely a quiet, meek boy, although he definitely appears to be. Inside of him dwells an incredible potential that has been silenced for years. After his 18th birthday, he decided that enough was enough and he was an adult now, and decided that if his family wouldn't teach him, he'd find a teacher for himself. Before leaving home, he stole his family's heirloom spellbook that he hoped would help him on his journey.

It's just unfortunate that he was turned down by every mage he tried to become the apprentice of, with everyone he encountered believing that he was completely a lost cause. However, not everyone is so quick to turn him down. There are yet still those who see something great inside of him, and even more than that, people who genuinely care about him for him.
