vanity crawled back to civilization the instant humans reinvented it. he doesn't do well with deprivation, he's delicate. very carefully, he's spent generations repackaging himself as glamorous, charming, almost entirely harmless - a status symbol for any mage house who bonds him. it was easy. historically, vanity was the only elite construct whose control object was seized by a rival lord. he has long since been viewed as the spoils of war.
he abhors his partner elite havoc, and has spent centuries cheerfully slandering him to any historian that will listen.
