Rufus Bondry

Rufus Bondry was a pirate on the crew of the Wild Starling, having joined when he was quite young and staying there for the good fellowship and decent pay. 

One day, while on land and trying to make an extra dollar, he followed a hag back to her lair and tried to thief from her. When he was caught, she shrieked that he was a “filthy stinking rat!”, to which he responded “excuse you — I don’t stink!”  Not thinking he was funny, she put a hex on him to transform him from a human into a ratling, ruining his life and alienating him from all he knew.

Since that day, he’s roamed the world in search of someone who could break his curse and return him to normal. As such, he’s had no luck, but he knows deep down he’ll find somebody.
