Haughty Inventor
At her core, Seph is an optimistic and determined person who has clear goals for her future and a friendly personality. She does her best to be kind and professional, but sometimes she’s a bit too exhausted to be effective at it. She often forgets why she started a conversation or is too anxious about something to pay close attention to other things. Most of the time she’s preoccupied with her financial troubles, but if something surprising enough happens she can be distracted and engaged. Seph is persistent, optimistic (she has to be), and is at her best in formal and professional environments. She’s good at noticing when others are trying to influence her but also tends to assume that everyone’s aim in doing so is money. She has a bad habit of getting too focused on her own problems and not noticing things happening in the background. Seph tries a little too hard to appear esteemed and wealthy and it often backfires on her.
Personality
First Impression:
If you meet her at a party, you'll be impressed by the intricately crafted metal fittings of her elaborate dresses, all very expensive she assures you. Before you have the chance to inquire after the designer she's launched into a spiel about some sort of automatons? She keeps saying you need to invest now, but you thought this was a social party?
Goals/Motivation:
Her childhood being raised in poverty by a single mother impressed in Seph the insatiable desire for wealth and stability, which drives everything she does. She needs everyone to have heard of her and to be acknowledged, one way or another
Flaws:
This need controls her. She never feels comfortable or gives herself time to rest, she needs to invent the next new trend and cash in on her success. She only talks to rich people, who can be very condescending, because she desperately needs to be seen as one of them. She never will be. Seph also can be extremely mean to make herself seem better than other inventors. Instead of treating clockwork dolls as people, she degrades them and insults their maker because she can't admit she's impressed.

Inventing
Strength:
Seph is at the top of her field, but she's never succeeded in creating life. She won't admit that she's jealous that someone else has figured it out. Her drones are pretty cool, though.
Thrifty
Strength:
She's been saving money and taking the cheap way out her whole life. See a bargain? She's on it. She does a lot of crafting to save labor costs. She'll send money if it's really worth it, but most things she can find a better way.
Promotion
Strength:
This is the lifeblood of any businessman. She knows the best way to squeeze money out of nobles and to get her name out. Her only flaw is that she's overeager.
Baking
Strength:
What started as a way to save costs became a beloved hobby. When she needs to think about something difficult she'll do so next to the oven she built, waiting for the pie to finish.
Trivia
An idiot.
With red hair pulled up into a messy bun, Seph’s baggy sweater-based outfits when she's at home always come off looking like she didn’t put any effort in at all. Anywhere else, however, she wears overly elaborate outfits that get caught on things because darnit she will die for her aesthetic.
She's 5'3" but wears platform shoes to look taller.
Her goggles are functional microscopes and sometimes she forgets to take them off when she's done and crashes into things.
Even now, despite her long-term contract with a crew of ship scavengers and industry connections her younger self would kill for, Seph is not comfortable in her achievements and is paranoid that she'll somehow lose favor and be out of work and destitute again. She always has a series of back-up jobs lined up just in case.
She designs a variety of machines, although she also makes her own clothes and equipment (it's cost-effective). Her signature achievement is her sephalobot series of squid-shaped drones used to scour the ocean floor for signs of wrecks.
Seph is a skilled promoter and takes every possible opportunity to advertise her work. It took her years of self-promotion to get to the point where people would pay attention to her and she hasn't forgotten that.
She always carries a handkerchief on her.
Her hobbies include self-advertising, listening to classical music, and watching sports. Classical music is purely for the aesthetic and sports are good stress relief.
Seph has a frenzied optimism because she can't let herself think about the bad things
She refuses to admit defeat (because if she's not the best no one will ever hire her) so she insults others' inventions if she thinks they're really good, especially if she doesn't like the inventor.

Julian

Julian is smart, rich, and most importantly, fashionable. Seph could chat with him for hours and sometimes does. Although she was initially attracted to his wealth and status, she does enjoy his company and would probably get along with him even if none of that were true.
Sei
[ target of envy ]
Seph really admires the mastery of science that is Sei and wants to be his friend but expresses this by constantly disparaging him, because like hell she's going to admit something someone else did is good! This isn't working out too well for her, to be honest.
