Raelynn is a 16-year-old student attending St. Rebecca's School for the Gifted. She's as impulsive and chaotic as you can get, but she somehow avoids getting herself in trouble.

Being born to well-known members of a rebellion makes life quite limiting. With only her parents and her twin brother, Rae, for company, Raelynn constantly longed for a normal life. She would binge watch those Disney channel high school sitcoms over and over, to the point where she could probably recite every single one. She would stare out the window longingly as she watched the mail lady deliver the mail, wishing that that could be her. She never tried to sneak out, but she definitely thought about it. The only reason she remained was because she was way too clingy to survive without her family.

Well that, and her best friend, Ava, would occassionally visit. Ava was another child of rebels and had the same obsession of living a normal life. Whenever they were able to spend time together, they would "gossip" (talk about the newest season of whatever TV show they were watching) and paint each others nails. When Ava wasn't around, Raelynn would spend her days painting with her brother. It allowed her to express herself and her feelings in ways that she couldn't do verbally. Her love for painting led her to develop a love for photography as she got older, and for her 14th birthday, she received a camera from her parents. With that camera, she would spend her days in the woods behind the house, taking pictures of anything that caught her eye.

Unfortunately, her fascination with the arts couldn't satisfy her desire for freedom. During the summer of what would be her sophomore year of high school, she learned about St. Rebecca's School for the Gifted, a world-renowned private school. She doubted she'd actually be accepted, so what was there to lose? Well, that March, she discovered that she had not only been accepted, but was granted a scholarship to attend for her artistic abilities. You can imagine how that conversation went with her parents (spoiler alert: they weren't happy). After lots and lots and lots and lots of begging and pleading, she managed to convince her dad to allow her to attend, but there was one problem: Rae wouldn't be able to go with her. She hadn't thought to tell him to apply as well, and to say he wasn't happy would be an understatement.

This only worsened when, a few months later, Rae discovered photos of an unknown woman in their dad's desk and accused him of cheating on their mom....yeah, turns out those photos were of their real mom (who died when they were less than a year old) and their "mom" was actually their step-mom. Rae was so enraged by this that he left. Just straight up left. Raelynn was devastated, but decided to still attend St. Rebecca's School for the Gifted for her junior year. She just left out a teeny tiny detail when she told her parents her decision: that she was going to look for Rae while attending school. This couldn't go badly at all (it does).
