Cecilia Erudon, nicknamed Ceesa, is the heir of the prestigious Erudon Family of the Kingdom of Kanavan, although she is unsure whether she'll be able to uphold her family's name. She is the daughter of Ronan Erudon and Amy Plie. Cecilia was born with the power to have prophetic dreams. She decides to run away from home just before she's about to start her training as a Spell Knight, after having a vision where she's meeting the Goddess of Life, Gaia, to pursue an answer about her visions.

Description

"The future of the Erudon bloodline."

  • Name: Cecilia Erudon
  • Age: 11 (1483), 15 (1487/Present)
  • Hobbies: Singing (this is a secret), making dreamcatchers
  • Likes: Sweets (sweet-tooth), parties and festivals, dreamcatchers
  • Dislikes: Being in leadership roles, expectations
  • Weakness: Dreams, uncertain futures

Cecilia has a strong sense of discipline she got from her father. Because of the surrounding expectations, and especially the ones put on her by herself, she has the feeling she needs to be perfect in order to attempt even coming close to her parents' accomplishments. This is made worse by the divination powers she has, which take form into strange dreams or sudden confusing visions, which make her terrified.

She has got a bit of a spoiled side she got from Amy, which manifests in monopolizing sweets or getting (quietly) gloomy when there are none around.

Cecilia often prays to the Goddesses of Creation, as well as the Goddess of Life, Gaia.

Story

Upbringing

As the firstborn and only child of Ronan Erudon and Amy Plie, of the prestigious Erudon family, it is tradition for her to start training in mastering the Spell Sword, join the Royal Guard and uphold the family name. Due to his own troubled upbringing, Ronan was considerate with Cecilia regarding this, avoiding forcing or pressuring her into this tradition, especially due to the current peaceful times. However, from a young age, Cecilia seemed to have accepted this role. Nevertheless, the start of her training was delayed by Ronan's intervention.

She was raised with an aristocratic's education, which left her with little time to have fun. For this reason, she particularly enjoys parties and attending festivals. She has an affinity for music she got from both her parents.

She is childhood friends with Eckarus Sieghart due to their parents' friendship, though they also befriended Willard Woodguard, a half-elf who sneaked into her mansion's garden, and the three became best friends.

Journey to the Land of the Gods

The story starts on the day of Cecilia's 15th birthday party,

After the party, she overhears a conversation her father is having with her grand-uncle. The grand-uncle argues it is time she finally begins her training to become a Spell Knight, while Ronan tries arguing it is too early and there's no need with the current peaceful times. Cecilia intervenes in their conversation and accepts the proposal, putting on a bravado and telling her father she was also thinking of starting the training.

However, that night, she has a prophetic dream where she's in Xenia, standing in front of the Goddess of Life, Gaia, who tells her something she can't hear. The following day, she tells her friends about the dream, and despite knowing her training will start soon, expresses her desire to seek an answer for this dream, and also for her visions. Willard suggests they go on a journey, like their parents once did, to Xenia, although he is motivated by his goal rather than helping Cecilia. She agrees, and that night the three run away from home without telling their parents.

Relationships

He is the captain of Kanavan's Royal Guard. Because of the expectations and pressure placed on himself by the family when he was Cecilia's age, Ronan is very mindful of his daughter, delaying the start of her training and never pressuring her into the family's tradition. Although becoming a Spell Knight was a choice decided by Cecilia herself, he often reassures her that he will support her no matter what path she chooses.

Cecilia likes listening to her father sing, although his songs about the cowardly knight make her sad.

For Amy, Cecilia is her pride and joy. The Oracle makes the question to brag about her daughter and encourage her to show off more, which she means as an ego boost attempt, but which unfortunately doesn't help with Cecilia's self-doubt. However, Amy is very supportive of her, always finding a way to cheer up Cecilia when she is feeling uneasy or down. She briefly tried to get Cecilia interested in dancing, though this lead nowhere, but she's glad that her daughter also loves singing.

Amy passed down a Xenian brooch she received from Gaia herself in the past, shaped like the Orb of Life, and always taught Cecilia to worship the Gods. This brooch becomes Cecilia's most treasured possession, and a form of reassuring herself once she leaves for her journey.

Cain is a friend of the family, being a former member of Existor, the Erudon family's intelligence unit. Currently, he is a writer documenting the Grand Chase's journey, but also works as Cecilia's babysitter and educational tutor.

They have a good relationship, with Cecilia liking to ask him to make up bedtime stories when she was younger.

Special Abilities

Cecilia has divination powers, given to her by Gaia at birth. While unable to talk to the gods directly, she can have visions of past, present or future events under certain circumstances, but due to her young age, is generally unable to distinguish the last two types. When she is having a vision, her irises turn completely golden.

Cecilia has natural magical talent, inherited from both her parents, being able to cast rune magic, hers being characterized by a pink aura  like her mother's.  She excels with White Magic, but has troubles with Black Magic. In battle, she wields a Spell Sword, named the Fray.

Although she is unaware of this, especially since she mostly sings in secret, her singing also has some magic to it.

Job Class

Heiress

As the Heiress of the Erudon family, it was expected for Cecilia to start training to become a Spell Knight. However, her training was delayed due to her father's request, resulting in Cecilia having difficulties in wielding a Spell Sword and harmonizing it with her magic. Instead, Cecilia focuses on aiding herself and her teammates with her White Magic.

Fray

The Fray is a Spell Sword that was in possession of the Erudon Family for many years. Its origins are unknown, but the family got possession of it at some point. It was said to be a strong magic weapon, but its past wielders were disappointed by how weak its magic was. As a result, the Fray was forgotten to gather dust in a corner of the mansion's basement. Cecilia, who was in a rush to run away unnoticed, picked the sword, which seemed to be calling for her.

The truth about the Fray is that it is a sword that gets stronger along with its wielder. Even if someone of great swordsmanship and magic were to wield it, it takes time and patience to be able to use its full potential - which turned out to be perfect for the Heiress.

Etymology

Cecilia is derived from Latin, meaning "blind". It is also the name of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music and musicians.

Erudon might be derived from "erudite", meaning a scholarly person.
