Murasaki is a kind, cheerful girl with a young soul and a permanent spring in her step. She tends to have rather intense emotions; being quick to anger, but also easy to excite. This makes her quite popular with children, but some people find her temperament annoying.
Murasaki is very dedicated to her work and has barely taken a day off in her entire existence. When she is not out of the country, she spends her days doing general dirty work around Tenshukaku such as assorted paperwork or serving refreshments to the Shogun. The little free time she does allow herself, she spends at cafes in Inazuma City, or cooking.
Due to the sheer amount of time she spends traveling, Murasaki is yet to forge a true connection with another person, and she laments this fact. Perhaps, though, this is a good thing, as she has already lived countless human lifespans, and any friend she did make would be doomed to an inevitable death 60-70 years down the line.
Overview
Following the Cataclysm, the Kujou clan decided they needed a different method of communication between other nations, as following the attacks on Inazuma they could not risk losing any more people to dangers both inside and outside the country. The solution they came up with was to send a non-human entity in their stead. To achieve this, they stole some confidential Fatui documents, detailing prototypes for a mechanical being, not too dissimilar from the Raiden Shogun or Kunikuzushi, but different in the sense that this being ran on pure Electro elemental power. It is unknown if the Fatui ever made use of the technology themselves, but, after threatening a few craftsmen in the city to assist them, Murasaki was created.Murasaki is now regarded as a permanent employee of the Tenryou Commission and officially resides inside Tenshukaku. She has free will of her own, but was initially programmed to forever serve the Shogunate and deal with their intra-country affairs, so this is all she ever does. She has visited all seven nations and spoken to all their leaders; a few of the Archons, too.
However, Murasaki was out on a business trip to Liyue when the Sakoku Decree was put into place. She could not go back to Inazuma, so the Qixing graciously gave her temporary residence in Liyue Harbor. Despite the decree now having been lifted, she is considering making Liyue her permanent base due to ease of access to the other 5 nations compared to traveling from Inazuma each time.
Like the Raiden Shogun, Murasaki has visible ball-joints as a result of her mechanical body. She does her best to cover them up with gloves and tights to conceal her identity. She was named 紫機, read ‘Murasa’ and ‘Ki’, meaning ‘Purple’, referencing the Electro that powers her. It is also a pun, as ‘Ki’ means ‘Machinery’.
