Tall, broad shouldered, and stone faced, it’s easy to assume that Sou might be someone who’s unfriendly and rough around the edges. To add to it all, the wicked scars on his face undoubtedly mark him as a Thunderstruck, which is often cause for most people to steer clear of him. At a distance, he hardly smiles, and close up, he hardly speaks. Most of the time he’s inclined to quietly walk away from gatherings and not talk much. People assume that he wants to be left alone.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

In actuality, it’s just that he struggles with words, and has a deep-rooted fear for others’ sakes when they associate too much with him. He strongly believes that he’s a magnet for bad luck, and is hesitant to make friends because of such. In his mind, it’s best to stay away and not wait until something bad inevitably happens to others. Sou is trying to do better when it comes to letting people in- after all, he came to Gale’s End to grow as a person- but it’s something easier said than done when his feelings of unluckiness are so deeply ingrained. He is quick to assume the worst and is also quick to blame himself.

However, if one is patient or persistent enough to weather past the stoic and somewhat intimidating wall he presents himself as, he’s a kind and compassionate individual. His anxieties hinder him sometimes, but he’s eager to be helpful to others and the community, even if he’s bad about vocalizing it. Sou is plenty good at listening though, and is the type of person that’ll remember the small things. At his heart he yearns for friends and to feel at home, hopefully for real, and permanent, this time.
