"bad dreamer, what's your name?"

Enchanter Septimus Bloom, the Viscount of House Bloom.

Too much of a bastard to live, too charming to die.

Mage Court Scepter

Personality

+ auspicious

Septimus is what many would simply call, lucky. Beneficial opportunities seem to throw themselves upon her doorstep. It is said if you find yourself in her good graces, that prosperity will fall upon you too.

+ wise

Septimus is known to give wise counsel to those in need, and often gathers crowds at various social events of nobles desperate to ask for advice. They are more than happy to give their opinion, and relish having a crowd hang onto their every word.

+ charming

Septimus prides himself in his ability to charm even the most stern of individuals, which is most likely how he earned the title of Viscount. It is quite difficult to not fall prey to his charms, but those with a strong willpower are often able to see through his games.

- proud

Septimus is above all, a staunchly proud individual. They take all slights, intentional or not, as incredibly personal, and have dueled for their honor on many occasions. While they may be charming, their proud personality has also won them their fair share of rivals in court and in the Order.

- impatient

Depending upon the person, Septimus can be very impatient, and expects immediate results when she asks for something. The staff and servants of House Bloom know better than to keep her waiting.

- capricious

Septimus is incredibly prone to quickly changing mood and behavior at the drop of a hat. One moment he will be pleasant and charming, and the very next he will become stormy and brooding. He never lashes out during these moments, but those close to him know well enough not to perturb him during these moodswings.

History

Septimus was the third eldest of eight children, and heir to the Viscount and Viscountess of House Bloom as their first mage child. While the title of Viscount is relatively new to their family, Septimus comes from a long line of honored and respected enchanters of the Order, and the family name Bloom carries weight in those halls. As the first born mage child to two mage parents, they were treated as the golden child, and were very obviously their parents’ favorite.

Even though Septimus often got on with their siblings, their parents’ favoritism often caused them to but heads with their eldest sibling. Tragically, one day they and their older sibling got into another fight, which quickly turned physical. Septimus was struck across the face, causing them to receive a bloody nose. What happened next was all a blur; the only thing Septimus can recall is looking down and seeing their eldest sibling slumped against the wall of the greenhouse, no longer moving. The only other being who witnessed what happened that day was the second eldest Bloom child, who still refuses to tell a soul what she witnessed that day. Not long after this incident, Septimus was quietly sent away by their parents to the royal academy of magic.

Since their family had some sway in the academy of magic, Septimus was taught only by the best professors, and was treated in a manner only befitting of the legacy child of the mage House Bloom. Septimus excelled in their studies and became popular with both students and professors alike. They networked and connected with many different mages with in the Order, and even managed to work their way into the inner circles of the noble mages that attended. While Septimus resided with the order, their parents were bestowed the title of Viscount by the monarchy, and their family established a place amongst the other noble mages in the royal court. Whenever Septimus would return home to Faline they would attend as many balls and noble social functions as possible, delighted to be rubbing elbows with the court, and also establishing connections with those of higher influence.

Septimus spent a long time away in Namarast, even after they became an enchanter as a young adult, and almost secured a position as a councillor before they ultimately decided to return home and settle into inheriting their title of viscount. Even though Septimus was meant to learn how to become a proper viscount upon returning home, they quickly became swept up in a new venture: monster hunting. They would often galavant away for weeks at a time with a hunting party of mage colleagues from the Order and participate in Great Hunts. Septimus adored both the thrill of the hunt and the glory that came with slaying such a grand beast. Despite neglecting the court during these escapades, with every hunt they participated in it seemed as if their renown with the nobility grew, drawing interest from mages and non-mages alike.

Roughly eleven years ago, the previous Viscount and Viscountess Bloom officially retired from court, and enchanter Septimus Bloom became the new Viscount of House Bloom. They quickly took to their official position, and became something of a fixed figure among the court. It is not uncommon to see the Viscount take an apprentice, or ‘project’, as some in the court refer to them, under their wing. Septimus often holds extravagant, exclusive ‘gatherings’ at their estate not far outside the capital of Faline, and it is not uncommon to see one of Viscount Bloom’s new ‘projects’ in attendance. While Septimus maintains looks for the court, they are not above pursuing less noble interests, such as their love for monster hunting, or adding charming new faces to their growing list of romantic affairs (and thus adding to their number of illegitimate children).

When Septimus' blood falls upon soil, thick black biars spring up from the affected ground. Septimus then has the ability to impose their will over the briar patches, and can shoot forth great thorny vines to do their bidding. However, while their ability can be very powerful, they somewhat lack in control over their magic.

Costs

  • Magic use fatigues the caster. It takes a great deal of energy for Septimus to impose their will upon the blooms, the longer they attempt to control them, the more fatigued they become.
