Meldreg

Meldreg is a mage (astromancy-specialized) and advisor who recently joined the capital after the Queen’s invitation. He’s usually solicited for matters implying supernatural or magical events. When he’s not working for the  crown, he’s studying or experimenting in his tower or at the academy. Little is known about his origins, but rumors say that he’s much older than he seems.

From a modest family, Meldreg started his mage apprenticeship with a necromancer (as little choice was given back then to the people in the countryside). Taking the opportunity to learn, Meldreg dealt with his fear of the undead and worked hard to be worthy of bigger secrets. One day, his master suddenly ordered his departure and to bring one of his most precious artefacts with him, a mysterious and very ancient book. An order of sorcerers was after it and later killed his mentor, before going after Meldreg as well. The attack was deadly and Meldreg almost lost his life before being rescued by the entity of the book itself, named “Cro” (instead of  Necronomicon XD). The young mage became a host in exchange of greater powers and escaped the order. As long as he’d be the keeper of the book, he’d live but also be a target for whoever seeks its mysterious knowledge.

Meldreg is very caring and sweet, but even though he’s sometimes requested to intervene in councils and such, he seems awfully awkward in the middle of the crowd. Cro in the other side is a very bold and extravert entity who enjoys teasing and joking. They sometimes can take Meldreg’s body control to release more power (or to cause some mischief). The gem on Meldreg’s chest is their disguise, usually looking like a simple gem but taking an eye shape when active.

The book in the picture isn’t Cro’s one but another random grimoire. 😊
