History

Georges was born as a quiet child with a weak health. For this reason, he spent the greater part of his childhood inside and got private lessons. His father, Arthur Ernst, was a authoritarian patriarch who was not able to show any weakness or emotion towards his family although being haunted by conflicts and allegations of the past and later on his age related joint pains. Even though, he was strict and irascible, he never hit his son, as he was his only child and the child's innocent purity made his soul softer.

Georges' mother, Ottilie, was a weak person, her mind absent in a dream world. She was not able to do any physically demanding tasks but also let down the household. All works in the house were kept up by his widowed aunt Mathilde and the between both houses shared housemaid Gwendoline. These two people, who visited several times a week, were a welcome change in the dull and dark everyday life and the link to the outside world. It sure was hard for Mathilde, seeing her younger sister wither apart in her fragile state but she kept the distress and pity for the whole family situation for herself.

Ottilie eventually died when georges was 9, by the age of 10, Mathilde took the pale boy in her house and raised him lovingly from now on. The escape from his by the meantime bitter and cold father was the beginning of a new life! He held the contact to his father low, visiting on a monthly basis but their relationship remained strained, they never talked about his mother again. In his time with his aunt, Georges grew faster and, despite still being prone and fragile, gained enough strength and courage to face a normal life shedule. He still got his private lessons but accompanied his custodian and Gwendoline at their daily errands as well as helping in the household.

In all his life, Geroges was quiet but an attentive listener. Trained by the sparse glimpses of emotion, he was able to recognise little changes in expressions and moods. However, openly expressed emotions of any kind, and loud voices frightened him. From time to time, this anxiety reached an extent, where normal low volume alone stressed him out completely. In addition, the small world of few people made the outside world with all their sounds, noises, and smells overwhelming and it took several years to get somehow trained to endure it for a reasonable time.

When he reached the age of 17, Georges began an education in a pharmacy and alchemy shop. Located in a smaller side road, it was suitable for his desire of calmness. He learned quickly but spent most of his work in the back of the shop to avoid contact with customers.
