Personality:

Ever shifting, the full extent of Minah's personality, even to her own family, is rather difficult to pin down. Depending on who she's with and which alias she's slipped into for the day, her persona can range anywhere from teasing and rebellious to quiet and calculating. She's been known to twist other's words around to suit her own, and is always searching for ways to build her up influence in Prismshard.   Though very little, if at all, is known by others, Minah seeks to gain control of the city as a king of sorts, loathing Prismshard's blind hatred of anything deemed non-human. With the steady influence of a long standing political and social background, she hopes to shift this way of thought into one of acceptance by her own merit and the cooperation of others who share a similar mindset.

Strengths / Weaknesses:

  • Minah's charisma is half the reason why she got anywhere in life: she has a way with words, when she establishes the right persona.
  • Her perception is a great advantage as well, though some might label it as paranoia instead. It does help to know what goes on immediately around oneself, as well.
  • When back into a corner, she can also be quite resourceful, which has gotten her out of many a tight bind.
  • Alcohol, however, is her foil; she refuses to drink it on the premise that becoming drunk leads to the very real, very dangerous possibility of blowing her human cover. The last thing she wants is a repeat of the past.
  • When it comes to others, Minah isn't very trusting, which does protect her to some extent, but it's also a rather lonely, rather difficult existence. It can also be very tiring keeping everyone at bay with the premise that they'll betray you if they know any information about you.

Likes / Dislikes:

  • When not under the guise of an alias, it's fairly easy to see that Minah has high ambitions and a thirst for power, and though the potential of holding a lot of power hasn't corrupted her yet, some may feel it's only a matter of time. This might also tie into the fact that she has a strong fear of failure.
  • Gourmet food is all but a must for her: Living the life of an aristocrat for several centuries tends to pamper the taste buds, after all. She has a particular fondness for liver.
  • Similarly, imitation food is almost blasphemy to her; especially tofu or spam. She'd rather starve.
  • Femininity is not something Minah adheres to very well, or likes. She has a lot of internalized misogyny that she's unlearning. She's had not so great experiences with the whole being female thing in the past and although she's trying to reclaim that part of herself, it's part of the reason why her aliases tend to be more masculine.
  • Dogs make her very wary, especially hunting breeds. They set her on edge and most can sense that she's a fox, which doesn't usually bode well for her if their owners catch on. Most, fortunately, just think their dog is being weird and isn't sure why they're barking like mad when they see her.

History:

.: One of three siblings, Minah grew up in 17th century China. Her mother disappeared shortly after their birth, leaving them in the care of her father.
.: At a young age the three were separated after learning the fundamentals of their Huli Jing heritage; being very vocal about having to do anything with a life of domesticity, Minah was sent off to be educated in various studies with other kids of aristocracy rather than being groomed as a future wife or consort.
.: Determined to prove herself, she dove into these studies with vigor, but it was clear from early on that her interest lay more in the political and historical aspects of her learning than, say, math or science.
.: Just as she was about to attempt to establish herself under the wing of a powerful aristocrat, the Manchu conquest of China took place, forcing Minah to return to her father.
.: Everything soon began to stabilize, but it took Minah time to re-adapt. With her father's help, however, she fell into step with a bulwark general and regained her ground there as a political advisor.
.: This general died shortly before the end of the Kangxi Emperor's reign, and with his death came Minah's persona's death as well.
.: Taking up a new alias, she substituted herself with the secondborn son of a Duke from a young age and lived in the lap of luxury, renewing her education even further and eventually becoming a Duke herself when her 'father' passed, as the firstborn had died of an illness when they were still small.
.: It was here that Minah got the first taste of a position of power, something she learned to relish deeply.
.: It was, however, short-lived: a political backfire forced her to fake her own death and take hiding once more, longing for another chance of power.
.: Setting her sights a little higher, she sought out one of the children of the emperor, again trying a substitution method, but her plans fell short: she was caught before she could murder the child and was chased off, her identity as a fox revealed.
.: Her pride wounded, she would fall into hiding for a while, cursing her luck and alternating between minor nobility and living as a normal fox for some time, waiting for stories of the fox who tried to take the emperor's child to fade to myth.
.: All the while she kept seeking out an opportunity to retake a nobility position, but her openings were rare.
.: For the next several hundred years she hopped in and out of various states of power, disappearing into the woodwork once her human disguise was old enough to have died and reappearing as someone new: sometimes a scholar, but more often than not became invested in a political role. Her downfall, however, was in picking off a child of high-standing to replace and being caught in the process. She was exposed as a fox and chased off, forced to go into hiding for over two decades until words of a malevolent fox spirit stealing away children faded into a bedtime story parents told their children to make them behave. Though it was a relatively minor event in the grand scheme of things, Minah took this as a personal slight against herself and has been working on her magical abilities studiously ever since, especially since she was caught twice in the same folly.
.: Growing tired of the way China's government was headed, Minah sought out a new life and heard of a planet called Aubade: intrigued, she journeyed there, and upon finding Westmoor derived quite the plan.
.: Now she's establishing herself politically under another alias, a middle-aged man by the name of Joseph Wong.
