Leona is prideful and critical of both herself and others. However due to being very sheltered at home she tends to be very naive and inexperienced in some situations as she spent most of her life dedicating herself to honing her combat ability. This makes her an excellent teammate and study partner, but a difficult friend. She is however very interested in experiencing everything she can while away from the pressures of home and actively tries to put herself into unfamiliar situations even if she fumbles quite a bit.

Many generations prior Leona’s village once faced impending doom through the poisoning of resources. Nothing could be done to save it until a fearsome spirit offered its powers to stave off the blight for twenty-five years. This service as with all services came with a cost for the spirit required a wife which seemed agreeable enough. It selected the finest maiden in the village, wed her, and then consumed her.

The sacrifice part of the deal had not come up and while it did not sit well with anyone the village had no choice. Come next cycle the village tried to change the terms but the spirit would not budge and when force was used great casualties were had. They could either leave their village to die to the blight or be subservient to a man eating spirit. Ultimately it was decided that the spirit was still the better solution and so they continued to accommodate it.

The cycle would carry on many times and now five years from the next marriage and Leona seeks a way out. However this requires not only eradicating the spirit but eradicating the blight should it return and Leona has toiled since school age to tackle the challenge as she was chosen early on in life to be the next in a long line of brides for the spirit. This was mostly through the study of the supernatural and ways to combat magical creatures. Her village have supported her wholeheartedly in this endeavor, its allowed her great oportunity to advance her abilities.... but very little chance to take the time to slow down.
