PERSONALITY

Falling Blossom, Love’s Gift is something of an absentminded klutz, and she knows it. She doesn’t take things like that as an insult, though! Blossom has a quiet voice that belies her outgoing personality. She makes up for her shortcomings with a kind heart and an unshakeable will. When she thinks she can be helpful, Blossom will throw herself into any task assigned to her – and some that aren’t – with all she’s got. She’s been known to make a bit of a mess with her clumsiness and her need to be everywhere at once, but any mess she makes is one she’ll be there to help clean up. It’s not uncommon for her to get tuckered out and keep working through it – being a member of a Kingdom means putting your all into its upkeep, after all!

Blossom cares deeply for all of her peers and will go out of her way to do some small kindness to anyone she sees in need of one. She’s a bit *too* eager to please, in fact – she’s anxious about her role in the life of others, and her own needs can go neglected while she gives her all to the cats around her. She especially loves and looks up to her fellow monarchs and wants nothing more than to offer the Court the same type of kindness they do. Blossom’s kindness also extends beyond borders, where she tries her best to strike up friendships with loners and even Empire cats – though the latter group are often less receptive to her advances.

Kits are Blossom’s weakness – okay, she has a *lot* of weaknesses, but kits really get at her! She just can’t make herself get upset with misbehaving kits when those cute little fluffballs turn their cute little eyes up at her. She ends up being a little more lenient than she probably should be, but the other monarchs are there to help her along. It’s not hard to get Blossom excited, but she’s never been more excited than she is to be a mother. Sure, all kits are cute, but she can say with certainty that hers are the cutest of them all!

BACKGROUND

Falling Blossom wasn’t always the outgoing cat she is now. She was born alongside two stillborn siblings, and her father left the Court not long after in his grief. Blossom’s mother became distant and cold afterwards, and by the time Sunlight died, Blossom barely remembered what her voice sounded like. This treatment from her mother greatly skewed Blossom’s perception of families – rather than loving and being loved by a family, a family was something that must be impressed and appeased.

Despite the monarchs’ best efforts to give Blossom the love and care she deserved, Blossom became quiet and withdrawn, trying to embody the very model of a polite young cat, hoping her mother would notice her efforts and reward her with love and attention. It never worked, but that never stopped her from trying. Throughout her apprenticeship, Falling Blossom was determined to become the greatest warrior the Court had ever seen and made her mother proud. Never mind that Fading Sunlight hardly looked her way long enough to even keep track of her daughter’s activities. Never mind that hunting and fighting was a dreadful bore, and Blossom never seemed to get much better at it. Never mind that she felt best whenever she was assigned duties in the nursery, when she could let her guard down a bit around those cats who had loved her unconditionally as a kit.

When, after a long struggle to grasp her training, Falling Blossom’s warrior ceremony finally came, it was the monarchs who Golden Tiger consulted with when choosing the title Love’s Gift. They wanted it to serve as a reminder to Blossom that her very existence was a valuable gift – not something she had to justify in order to be loved. Yet still, Falling Blossom looked to Fading Sunlight, and Fading Sunlight looked away.

Then Sunlight died, and… Blossom hated to admit it, but everything got easier. There was nobody left to prove herself to, and she could finally be honest with herself about what she wanted. She wanted to be herself and laugh with the cats she loved. She wanted to be a monarch. She wanted to be a mother. A moon was all it took to prepare herself for the change, then Blossom was moving into the nursery with all the help and support she could ever want from her fellow monarchs and the Court at large. She’s still coming into her own, but things are looking up.
