Simon

About

Simon has lead a very sheltered life, and is very eager to explore the world outside of the trailer park he grew up in. He is very easily excited by apparently common things, and in love with the town of Perla. He isn't very well socialized, and can come off as rude and unintelligent at times. He loves to eat, and has a bad habit of pocketing snacks from any store he goes into.

Simon is officially unemployed, but cleans up around the Martian-Free Motel where he lives with Clementine in exchange for board. He gets free admission into the parks a la Freddie and Clementine, but never seems to be around for their investigations, claiming to go home "not feeling well" only to discover yet another inhuman trait in his appearance...

Design

Appearance

Simon Morning is a short, slender "human" with crimson eyes with divided pupils, light peach skin, and messy pale copper hair. He has a strong jaw, semi-circle eyes, and a thin nose. He usually dresses out of thrift stores, and tends to look a little thrown away.

Background

Simon was born at home in 1981 to single mother Sadie Morning, with no father in sight. Sadie, though apparently protective, she wouldn't hesitate to smack Simon around when he wouldn't do as he was told. He was never allowed to leave the trailer park he grew up in, and was left with neighbors while his mother went out for food, clothes, and supplies. He was the only child in the neighborhood, and this led to a very lonely upbringing. Unbeknownst to him, Simon's father wasn't just absent. Simon was conceived through immaculate conception, and was the second incarnation of an old god. On his 18th birthday, he would grow into his true form.

When Simon was 17, he left his home in the middle of the night as everyone slept. He ran into visiting ufologist Clementine Richie, who, upon learning about his situation, invited Simon to stay with her until he turned 18 and his mother had no say. He usually followed Clementine to work, so to stay ahead of his mother. He would return to the motel every night, and find another thing out of place every day, starting with his eyes, all the way until his 18th birthday when he became unrecognizable. His mere presence threatened the people of Perla, and Clementine was forced to use his own power against him to turn him to stone.

Lost in solipsism, he then slowly pulls a lever, which sets off a mechanism, which does nothing whatsoever. But the nothing that it does, negates the everything we know, because it's screaming "Just because!" Because it's neither friend or foe, and so we label it a menace or a grandiose work of art. From its finale to its genesis, we slowly pull it all apart.
