Atsa was taken in at a young age after his parents were killed on Chenoa's grounds. Being adopted into the Tlizilani family, he has always struggled to fit in among his new family.
Hearthstone's curse never bothered him, if anything Atsa saw it as a necessary culling. If they were chosen to die, then they are returned the the earth as something new. Atsa also uses the guise of the curse and demons to fulfill his own agenda. Adding onto the body count when he feels the curse didn't take the right person.
He hopes that Hearthstone never gets cleansed, no matter what.
