Few decades ago, Kagura was a beautiful human woman with long dark hair, living in the far north east, where the winter rules most of the times.

Everyone was admiring her beauty and maners. She received a strict education to traditional art in order to become a good wife. Her familly wasn't poor but not rich either. They gave everything and all their hope to her education. "It's important for your future", her mother kept repeating this over and over again her entire childhood. She sometimes left her, on the deep winter, on the streets for a day so she could "realise the chance she had to have a comfy home.

Finally someday, after countless hours of efforts, a man was interested in her. She met her future husband. Handsome man, rich and powerful,a little older than her. "Why such a man that rules a big domain is not married yet ?" she tought. He never specify the reason, he had the power not too. She wasn't exactly thrilled to get married. After all she didn't know him. It doesn't matter, it's tradition.

That was the beginning of hell for her. He had a true inferiority complex. Sure he was powerfull but not enough. He was drunk all his free time, complaining about his life, his wife and how a "fucking tad" stole his future. He never shared anything with her, not a gentle touch, no affection. Only violence and domination.

After a year and a half she got pregnant, but lost her baby at 4 months, after a kick. He blamed her to not be made for it, that she wasn't strong enough to handle that. Few days later she lost her mind and cut his throat with a knife. Cold blooded murder.

The servants found her in the blood of her half behead husband. Kagura was emotionless. The servants outraged, called all the village for help. They all decided to put her in a cell. Kagura never fought back, never said a word. After two weeks the village, and newly temporary elected chief, decided to burn her alive.

In fact the villagers loved Kagura's husband. He always made the good decisions for everyone and were sad when a younger rich boy take the position above, instead of him. He did good in his job, and now they are all scared of whom will take his place. The only possible judgement was death by fire, the worst of all. When they told Kagura her fate, she didn't answer, her eyes were empty. She was waiting to be delivered.

The day came. They put her naked on the stake in a forest clearing. It was snowing. Her body was cold like she was already dead. They started the fire, she was screaming of pain. The villagers were contentand repeated she deserved it. Then they all left, leaving her burned body like a garbage, waiting for the animals to clean this up.

Attracted by the smoke made by the fire. A wanderer came to see by his eyes what was happening. What kind of fire could it be on this early year by this snowy weather. He also heard someone screaming so it was indeed very intriguing. He found her body, she was not dead, her breathing was slow and vague. She was slowly dying. He wonders if she was in pain ? Admiring her refusal to die or rather her will to live, he decided to turn her into one of his kind : a Oni. He tought that if she survives the transformation, she could at least take a revenge to this monstruosity. He wasn't a huge fan of cruelty, a respectful oni. Before blending his blood to hers, he tried to be reassuring and calm, explaining her everything she needed to know, hoping she could hear him. After that, he left her in the snow,so the villagers wouldn't notice,But he couldn't help himself to put a towel above her naked and bruned body, to protect what was left of her dignity (onis are not sensitive to the cold.) He was deeply praying for her to survive and hoped to hear about her in a near future

She survived. It took her few days for her body to recover. She was tired, so she tried to find a calm place to rest before taking back her home. She was annoyed about this mysterious oni guy. She didn't wanted to live! She was fine whith her fate. But he decided she had to live. Again, another person decided for her and she was pissed about that. From now on, no one will ever give her orders again. And no matter what, she will enjoy her life until the end. Free from her mortals chains, she has no god to pray.

When the villagers saw her body was missing, they tought about a beast and let it go. The wind took the towel few metters away and the snow covered it

Now her hair are the colors of fire, her skin is white as the snow and it has fire markings

Humans are now afraid of her. She killed and ate the villagers that burned her alive. She left the kids and innocents people leave her domain. She did to be fair and so people that left can spreads the rumors and leave her alone in her "castle".She's ruthless but not cruel

Small yokais also heard the rumor, and came to seek her protection against Kitsunes among others. That's how she became the ruler of her own place with her own kind.

From time to time the army tries to take back the domain but they are too scared or killed violently
