Sookie Cantrell is the protagonist of my wip comic Project. After one of her brother’s inventions didn’t work as planned, it’s energy transmitted onto her and gave her the power to create and manipulate Force-Fields. As her superhero alias Shelter she builds a superhero team with Thorn (Noah)
Sookie was born to Evelyn and Joseph Cantrell. She grew up with her older brother Mason always looking for her, as she tended to be quite clumsy and injuring herself a lot. One day she even fell into a river and Mason had to rescue her. Since then she’s terrified of deep water and wasn’t able to learn how to swim because of it. Sookie grew a big interest in comic books and superheroes. She practised her drawing skills at a young age, dreaming of creating her own comic series one day. When she got accepted at the University for Creative Arts to study Art, she moved together with her brother as he was working in the same town.
Becoming a superhero
Her brother was building a force-field generator for one of their customers at the security company he's working at. Sookie helped him, but unfortunately something went wrong. The generator exploded and transmitted it's powers onto Sookie. When she created a force-field bubble to save a pigeon from a bus, she first realized that something was wrong with her. Personality
Sookie seems very shy and reserved around people. The only person she talks to is her best friend Jayden, whom she has known since they were 9 years old. She's socially awkward and easily gets nervous around strangers and people she just met. As she’s quite introverted, she thinks a lot, especially about conversations with her friends and how to talk to people (scared that she might say something “wrong”). When she puts on the mask and becomes Shelter, her confidence grows and she's able to speak up against the bad guys. However, she still gets flustered when she’s around her crush Noah.

Noah Hale (Thorn) •
Partner & Boyfriend
Sookie and Noah visit the same university. She has a huge crush on him and has no idea, that he and Thorn are the same person. After they revealed their secret identities they get together in a relationship.
Mason Cantrell •
Brother
Mason is Sookie's older brother. He works at a security company, for which he had to build a force-field generator. As something did not work out as planned, the generator got destroyed and transmitted it's power onto Sookie. They have a good relationship, Mason is always there for his little sister and tries to help her getting her new powers under control.
Jayden •
Best friend
Jayden is Sookie's classmate and best friend. He also studies art and is very skilled in typography. They are both part of a pen and paper group, where they meet every other week to play. He often encourages Sookie to speak more up and also to talk more to her crush. (often without success)
Aaron Sinclair (Midas) •
Enemy
A bored villain, who has nothing better to do than to get on her nerves. He thinks up evil schemes to put her abilities to the test and be a so-called worthy "archenemy". She's more annoyed by him, especially by his petnames for her and occasional possessive tendencies.
