Myriam (Mary) De-Chagny

Myriam/Mary: name meaning ‘beloved’

Born Myriam De-Changy, Mary has been nurturing and loving since the moment that she was born. Even when she was young, she saw the best in everyone, often looking out for the other foals in her herd- both younger and older than her. This belief in seeing the goodness in everyone lead her to falling in love with a pegasus stallion named Kratos. It wasn’t long before she fell pregnant with her very first foal, sired by none other than Kratos himself. She gave birth to her son alone at sunset, the colt capturing her heart the moment she saw him. Yet once she introduced her colt- who she lovingly named Raoul- to his father...Kratos’s reaction wasn’t what she’d hoped it would be. 

He lashed out at the colt, Raoul quickly hiding behind his mother. Kratos refused to claim the pegasus colt as his son, deeming him a ‘bastard’. Yet, wanting to keep a hold of Mary within his herd, he allowed Raoul to live...but this wasn’t out of kindness. Raoul was treated horribly throughout his entire childhood, both by Kratos and by the other stallions in the herd. Mary would often find him brusied and bleeding, though he always put on a smile for her and promised that he’d be alright. 

Afterwards, she had one more foal sired by Kratos, a filly this time. Around the point her daughter was born, she adopted another young filly- one who’s mom had been banished by Kratos on a false accusation of cheating. Luckily, Kratos claimed both of the fillies, and never harmed either of them...but Raoul continued to take the brunt of his father’s anger, and Mary couldn’t sit back and watch her son suffer any longer...
