Profile
Nia is a kind-hearted Harengon... most of the time. She usually has a snarky thought about a person or situation at first, but knows better than to say it (when she's able to keep secrets). She does have a strong moral code and wants to do the right thing, even if others consider doing it to be wrong. Not really vibing with town life, Nia would rather live in the woods than be around large crowds of people.
She was created to be my Dungeons and Dragons character for my friends and I's campaign in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight!
Backstory (The Wild Beyond the Witchlight):
Growing up in a religious sect near the town of Woolhope, Nia was raised to become an acolyte and serve the gods. As she grew into a rebellious teenager, she heard rumors of a fae circus popping up nearby. Curious as to what lied beyond her temple, she snuck in, not knowing of the consequences.
It was only later, when she stumbled upon the dark secrets that the religious leaders were keeping, that she realized what the fae took from her. She could not hide her forbidden knowledge and was ostracized by her clan. When she refused to leave her temple as they attempted to exile her, the rest of the Harengon simply left and abandoned her there.
Not wanting to ruin any other relationships by her inability to keep secrets, Nia stayed in her temple in the woods, away from others. Becoming attuned with nature led her to learn the ways of the Druid. Occasionally, some would venture into the woods and attempt to befriend her, but she would stay aloof as to not say anything to offend (as she couldn't keep any secret, no matter how small and judgmental).
Many years passed since these events took place, and Nia was content with her life of solitude. However, she heard through the whispers of the trees that the fae carnival was returning, and others were seeking it out. Memories of long-forgotten friendships washed over her, and despite the hardships she knew she'd face by joining the adventurers, she vowed to return to the carnival and obtain what was taken from her...
