About
An avid fan of horror and appreciator of Pokemon that most others would flee in fear of. Lucine is a trainer specializing in Psychic- and Ghost- types, and has psychic powers herself, which allows her to telepathically communicate with Pokemon. She is incredibly knowledge-hungry and usually doesn't hesitate to ask questions. Lucine herself is not immune to fear, but she strangely enjoys the thrill of her own adrenaline rushing.
Background
Lucine is from Three Island, and is part of a family blessed with psychic powers. She is the middle sibling, with one younger brother and one older sister. An incident occured when she was 5 years old, in which she wandered off and got lost in Berry Forest. She was found in deep sleep after 3 days of searching, and claims to have lost her ability to dream during her time spent missing.
She was part of a group of ghost-hunting kids in her childhood, and they would go explore nearby places rumored to be haunted, in addition to running a series of makeshift Gyms, complete with bottle cap badges and a TM trading network. One of her childhood friends from this group found a career working with a science magazine, and put in a recommendation for Lucine to take pictures for this magazine.

- Despite wanting to learn more aobut Pokemon that are typically feared, she herself gets a bit scared of these beings too. However, her desire for knowledge pushes her to overcome the initial hesitation.

Lucine's first partner. Originally a Drowzee native to the woods near Lucine's hometown. He happened upon a passed-out Lucine when she was still a young child and had been secretly following and watching her since she was reunited with her family. Lucine finally noticed this Drowzee a year later, when her psychic abilities began to awaken. She would play with this Drowzee, practicing using her new powers by mimicking him. She started to call him Nosey, since he was always trying to follow her around. Lucine can telepathically speak to Nosey, but he is a Pokemon of few words.
Nosey is noticeably hostile towards others of his species, as if he intends to protect his trainer from them.
When Lucine began her Pokemon journey in earnest, Nosey tailed her and managed stop her from leaving him behind before she could get a starter, making Drowzee Lucine's first partner Pokemon. He evolved during a gym battle, giving him the bulk needed to survive a super-effective attack that would have otherwise knocked him out.
Nosey seems pretty strange, but he really just wants to travel with Lucine. He knows something about why Lucine is unable to dream, but remains tight-lipped about it. For the most part he tends to stare into space or intensely at people. He doesn't need to sleep due to his ability, but usually helps Lucine fall asleep during periods of restlessness. He also keeps watch while his trainer is asleep.

Big Brain, or "BB" as Lucine likes to call him, is another early joiner in Lucine's journey. Even as a Blipbug, he noticed something unusual about Lucine. Some kind of power similar to his, and was surprised to realized that Lucine could speak to him with her psychic abilites. His voice when speaking telepathically has a thick New York accent.
BB evolved into Dottler after a trainer battle, in which he become a stalwart defender on the team with Reflect and Light Screen. He then evolved into Orbeetle during a training session, further honing his offensive capabilites. Once BB became more mobile as an Orbeetle, he enjoyed roaming around and checking his surroundings more often. He tends to warn his trainer of any notable threats in the area.

While Lucine was exploring an abandoned lab, a Zubat dropped from the ceiling right in front of her, briefly scaring her and causing her to throw a Poke Ball in reaction. This Zubat was caught and added to the team, with the nickname Zephyr. He initially hated traveling with Lucine because he intended for her to provide his next meal. Even when she tries to give him a friendly headpat, Zephyr would bite her hand in retaliation.
Despite the initial aggression, Lucine is more than happy to have Zephyr around, since chiropteran Pokemon aren't shown as much love. She found him difficult to train early on due to an especially poor initial movepool, but developed greater patience as a result. Lucine was ecstatic at Zephyr's evolvution into Golbat, and he started to dislike his trainer less. He'd still try to snap at her during attempts to pet him, but in a more playful sense than a malicious one.
Zephyr appreciates his trainer enough to evolve again, but deliberately stalls its own evolution into Crobat. Evolving would mean accepting that he actually does enjoy his trainer's company, but he rejects these feelings to continue the tsundere-like dynamic.

On Lucine's last paranormal escapade with her childhood friends, she caught a Gastly deep in the woods with the intention of evolving her into a Haunter during the adventure and trading for her friend's Dusclops, so that she would recieve a Dusknoir, and her friend would recieve a Gengar. However, some internal discord between Lucine and this friend led to the trade being abandoned, and both sides keeping their respective ghost pokemon. Lucine nicknamed this Gastly "Wispy" after this happened.
Wispy is a little shy, an uncommon personality trait for one of her species. She even turns away if Lucine tries to make eye contact with her. This also makes Wispy an incredibly nimble battler, capable of out-speeding all other members of Lucine's team. Wispy evolved into Haunter after a gym battle, and later into Gengar after curiously picking up a discarded wire that was left on the ground, which ended up being a Link Cable.
Wispy occasionally likes to gently lick Lucine as an affectionate gesture like a dog, not in an effort to take her soul (hopefully). She did this after evolving both times, and whenever Lucine gives her a headpat (which causes Lucine's hand to partially go through Wispy's body).

This Pokemon had a rough upbringing. She was rescued from a wicked Pokemon mill that bred and sold Pokemon with Hidden Abilities, maxed stats, and egg moves at exorbitant prices. Originally called Gligar Number Six, she managed to escape and also release several other Pokemon, which led to her being pursued. Six ran into Lucine, leading the woman to get involved with chasing the pursuers away.
Lucine took in this Gligar, who liked staying really close to her. She gave Six the new nickname "Xestu," a word similar to six. Xestu has a Hidden Ability and maxed Attack and Defense values, making her an incredibly powerful ally on the team, capable of sweeping unprepared trainers. Lucine evolved Xestu into a Gliscor under a moonless night, with a Razor Fang previously given to her as a battle reward.
Xestu is aggressively affectionate, playfully nudging, biting, and hugging Lucine's face. Lucine doesn't mind playing with Xestu, even if she has to patch herself up with a bandage or two afterwards.

A Shiny Darkrai that Lucine met after hearing legends of a deep indigo shadow that could inflict painful nightmares. She can speak telepathically to this Pokemon, which is how she found out that he is actually pretty lonely. She offered to add Darkrai to her team, which the Mythical Pokemon first refused. He later appeared before Lucine with a change of heart while she waited outside for the rest of her team to heal at a Poke-Center. Lucine calls him Lord Obsidian, and treats him with much respect.
Lucine's inability to dream makes her immune to the nightmare-inducing effects of falling asleep in close proximity to Lord Obsidian. He seems to be greatly intrigued by this immunity since he has never met a human that could not dream. This immunity also allowed Lucine to shake off any initial fear she felt in their first meeting.
Lord Obsidian is very powerful. The wide range and relative accuracy of his Dark Void make him a looming threat to any creature capable of slumber. The last Pokemon to join Lucine's team, and had no need of catch-up training. Despite being rather lonely, he has a habit of staying aloof personality and distances himself from the other Pokemon. This doesn't stop Lucine from trying to headpat him, which he secretly enjoys.
