Born to a doctor (his mother), he and Dan were best friends as children. When he was a young teen his mother got very sick and needed very expensive medicine, which Dan helped pay for by stealing. Adrian never really liked this, but Dan assured him he'd stop when they stopped needing money. His mother eventually died of the illness and Adrian decided to leave town with Dan, get rid of all the painful memories; Dan had other plans, though, and to help "pay Adrian back" staged a train holdup. Adrian fled the scene before he could be connected to Dan in any way and ran off through the desert until he collapsed.

He was found by members of the town he currently lives in, and because of his medical knowledge from his mom he became their doctor. He kind of hopes to never see his old friend again, especially as rumors spread of Red Dan, the tortoiseshell tom outlaw...
