Background
Never having met her mother, she grew up in Mantua, Italy, with only her father and frequent visits from paternal grandparents. Mia's only connection with her mother is a gift that she left her since she was a baby: a seemingly harmless obsidian that has the ability to mask her presence from monsters. With limited capabilities, this stone ensured that her life was never directly in danger. Until the age of 12, when her powers began to manifest stronger than ever. At school, despite her dyslexia and ADHD problems, she has always been pretty smart, even though her shyness often made her a victim of psychological bullying.
One day a new classmate of her, Elias, approached her and admitted that he was a satyr. Despite the initial confusion, Mia was ready to accept anything to get out of there, even the presence of the Olympians. She listened to Elias' advice to go to Camp Half-Blood and realized that her father had always kept too many things hidden from her. So, as Mia moved to the camp, Marco Giordano moved into a New York apartment, where he soon found a job as a translator at a local company. Mia couldn't wait to get away from home because of her turbulent relationship with her extremely strict father who, either out of fear or obsession with her, never gave her enough freedom.
At the camp she is placed in Cabin Eleven as her divine parent has not yet recognized her, which won't happen until the end of the war with Kronos, when Percy Jackson will force the gods to recognize all their children.
She immediately establishes a certain connection with Ethan Nakamura, due to their age and visions of Olympus, although Mia's shyness prevents her from talking to him too often. Mia also seems to take a liking to the Stoll brothers (or rather, they take a liking to her for how easy it gets to frustrate her with pranks), with whom she often spends time together becoming a close friend of them without, however, taking part in the pranks of the two.
Mia has always been very shy and introverted, so it wasn't uncommon to see her isolating herself at school. She doesn't talk much, but her emotions shine through her face, so it's easy to tell when she likes something or not. Having often been the victim of psychological bullying, she developed a strong sense of insecurity and inferiority, which transpired throughout her stay at Camp Half-Blood. However, this doesn't prevent Mia from pursuing her research on monsters, as she believes that one day it could be a turning point in helping the demigods survive.
As time goes by, however, Mia matures a more witty and outspoken behaviour, often hiding shyness behind an arrogant facade. Yet Mia looks like a different person when she's with her closest friends, smiling more and letting herself go.
Her shyness reaches its peak with the person she likes, resulting in her being unable to speak normally in their presence.
Her dream is to travel the world. She hums whenever she's doing something important. She's secretly skilled at table tennis, the only physical activity she enjoys.

Relationships
The Head of Cabin Twenty is, personality-wise, very similar to Mia. They bot get easily flustered and blush a lot, although Lou doesn't share her love for mischief with Mia. She becomes her closest friend at the Camp and although Mia's introvert nature doesn't let her share everything about herself, she feels comfortable enough in telling Lou most of her thoughts and ideas. Mia tends to keep her distance in combat when Lou is holding something in her hands...
He's the first friend she makes in Cabin Eleven, being of the same age. Their negative views and opinions on the Olympus seem to match and that's why they immediately get along. Mia seems to also develop some sort of unrequited crush during the years, until Ethan betrays the Olympus. Mia never blamed him for it, but she couldn't justify an alliance with an even worse despot than the gods. His death will break her for a long time.
A friend and coworker of Hyacinth. They don't always get along, but ultimately share in the ideals of luxury enough to find common ground. Sometimes Laurelien even helps him with... other endeavors.
Travis is more mischievous than Connor. Because of this Mia had to develop a greater patience towards him compared to his younger brother. Travis is the first to whom Connor admits his affection for Mia, and the only worthy advice her brother seems to give him is "steal her heart, not her wallet. Once you've done that, then you can steal her wallet". When Mia found out about this, her wallet was entrusted to the hydra Dorian, who seems to particularly dislike Travis. Mia is the first to encourage Travis to go to college, although she knows she would miss him.
Hermes' two sons approach Mia precisely because of how easy she gets frustrated by their pranks. Although annoyed by them at first, the three end up developing a solid friendship. Mia realizes she needs someone to help her open up, and the Stoll brothers do the trick. The two often try to include Mia in their pranks, despite the fact that she always opposes. She prefers to enjoy the show from behind the scenes, especially when the victims are the children of Ares.
At first Mia realizes that she has a hard time distinguishing them, despite the slight difference in height that tells them apart, but with time, for some reason, she is able to recognize Connor from afar, as well as immediately distinguishing his voice.
Mia admires Connor's courage, even if she doesn't share his blind loyalty to the Olympus. They have never argued about it, but rather seem to accept each other unquestioningly. The boy doesn’t hesitate to break into Mia's personal space just to frustrate her, and although Mia tended to ignore him in the early days so as not to give him any satisfaction, over time she’s learned to fight back (even with magic if necessary).
Ethan's death leaves a deep wound in Mia’s heart, and it takes her a while to heal it, but Connor does whatever it takes to stay close to her.
Connor proves to be the smartest of the siblings, and although they both love Mia equally, when Travis leaves the camp to go to college and Mia considers the same option, Connor admits that he would rather have her company (although leaving her the freedom of choice). Mia promises him that she would soon find a way to control the monsters so that one day they would travel the world together, without the constant fear of dying. According to most campers, there is a strange air of embarrassment between the two, but neither of them seems to want to make the first move. Because of this, it’s not uncommon that some hazardous comments from Aphrodite's children made them victims of sudden mischief.
Percy's arrival at the camp immediately makes Mia nervous even though she isn't quite sure why. At first she tends to stay away from him, but over time Mia seems to get to like him, although she ends up envying him for his fighting skills and, albeit clumsy, charisma. She especially envies his opportunities to leave the Camp for his quests, despite being deadly dangerous. When Mia is recognized by her mother thanks to Percy, she's very grateful to him. Although the two don't talk much, they seem to have developed good chemistry in combat.
