Physical characteristics
Shell is a shallow water selkieform built for maneuvering through reefs, caves, and river channels at high speeds. Her tail is short and powerful, her fluke is wedged shaped for maximum agility, and her dorsal fin is small and slightly rounded. Her hair and fins are primarily white with rust red stripes, resembling a Nautilus' shell.
Selkieform possess densely furred tails rather than the iconic fish scaled tails merpeople are tipicly painted with. This fur is tick and smooth like an otter's, making the creatures hydrodynamic as well as properly insulated.
Shell's fur tends to trap tiny air bubbles which reflect light brilliantly. Her tail seems to flash as she swims, and it has been theorized that this perhaps is used as a way of communication underwater.
Language
Shell seems to speak a full language consisting of clicks and whistles. She has begin to understand small dots of English, though it seems near impossible for her to pronounce English words. Xander in turn, has started to learn her language, and while he is in no way fluent, it is possible for the two to have a decent conversation.
Personality
Shell is quick to make friends and quick to defend them, which she proved the day Xander was nearly drown by an angry boss.
Her range tends to burn off just as quickly as it appears, and its hard to keep her angry for very long. Generally she is kind and loving and easy to make friends with, even with a language barrier.
Current situation
Shell is a young adult with a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. After being seperated from her pod as a teen she struggled to hunt alone. She resorted to hunting in shallow estuaries where water levels drop drastically and become stagnant. Eventually even this could not support her, and she found her way far up river, miles from reefbeds.
Shell was able to get by in fresheater, but without her pod her river started to feel lonley, and she had a few frightening brushes with the local humans.
It all changed drasticly when in a moment of careless apathy, two bait shop fisherman snagged her in a net.
