Alef and Resh came into existence at the exact same moment, twin gods born of stardust and cosmic energy.

The two were friends and lovers for thousands of years. They gave birth to lesser deities and even created a planet together.

But they began fighting over that planet, and that was the beginning of the end. Alef and Resh slowly became rivals, and eventually full-blown enemies.

The planet was like a child to them, so much so that it made their own divine children jealous. They named it Sykie and added all the components of life so that living beings would grow there. It was their treasured masterpiece, but they couldn't agree on how it should be managed.

Alef wanted a planet of peace and quiet order, where all creatures existed in harmony. Alef wanted them to be kind, gentle, and comprising with one another, following logic and reason.

Resh wanted a planet of freedom and passion, where all could make their own choices. Resh believed it was important to follow the heart, and wanted their creations to act accordingly.

Each god disapproved of the other's plans for the world. Alef thought Resh's world sounded chaotic and violent; Resh thought Alef's world would be dull and rigid.

Unable to reach a compromise, Alef and Resh created their own realms on the planet where the other was forbidden from access. From those realms, kingdoms spread out as creatures divided themselves between the two gods.
