Origins

Alphecca's earliest memory is of floating aimlessly through the void, utterly and completely alone. They never knew their parents. They never had a home. They simply... existed; going wherever, doing whatever, and spending their timeless existence however they wished. For there is no time in the Space Between Worlds - not as planet-bound creatures understand it. There is no day, there is no night, and to the mortal eye all celestial bodies are great and unchanging. Only the darting of comets, the spinning of planets, betray that not all is ageless. The Space Between Worlds is simply patient - like the mountains and redwoods of earth - what time does flow, flows glacially. A millennium is barely the blink of a eye! Alphecca therefore has no basis for guessing their age. They could be twenty, they could be forty. They could even be several hundred. Solrocks dart like asteroids, but age like the stars they so resemble. That is to say, barely at all.

Alphecca then remembers finding a comet and allowing themselves to be sucked along in its wake. It was relaxing to travel like this, having to expend none of their own energy, so they followed along for a good long while and allowed themselves to become yet another fleck of dust caught up in its long tail. Until, at least, they grew bored, broke free, and spun off on another adventure.

Things blend together.

Only occasionally does a memory shine out.

Skirting the edge of a black hole, watching a star go nova, finding a planet surrounded by a hundred moons...
