history

Growing up, Rhiati lived a pretty normal life. Born of high blood, the young troll truly didn't have much to worry about aside from their studies. They did, however, worry quite often about their dearest friend, Aselin, of whom had a habit of getting into trouble more often than not. Rhia and Ase's first metting was a rough one, though. The indigo had found the burgundy while he was being ganged up on by a group of older trolls. Fortunately, Rhia's caste was high enough to scare the bullies away without a fight, but Aselin did not appreciate the gesture, as he felt it made him look weak and helpless. He was quick to brush Rhiati aside, but the indigo didn't take his cold reaction to heart. Going forward, the two would occasionally run into one another, and Rhia being as friendly as ever, would always greet the other with a warm smile. Over time, the two became inseparable. Now Aselin and Rhiati are in a pale quadrant together, and face the many challenges of life hand in hand.

Rhia would spend most of their time with Aselin in their youth. For them, each day hardly had any meaning; all they did at hive was study and prepare for a career in law, which their lusus insisted was the best fit for their sharp mind. The amount of pressure put on them at so young an age was almost suffocating, and as such, slipping away to hang out with friends was the only way Rhia would get some downtime. It didn't help, though, that their friends were all highbloods from the academy they attended, and were often unpleasant to be around because of their loyalist mindsets. This left Aselin often being the only troll they could stand to be around. As the sweeps passed, however, things became more complicated. Aselin, now their moirail, suddenly decided to leave the city to live on the fringes. This was due to the constant harrassment he endured from high castes, as well as a promise to a particular guild. Because of how long the journey was to visit, Rhia was often unable to see him for days at a time. Their remaining friends weren't much help, and they couldn't stand being cooped up at hive or school without some downtime to keep them from losing their mind.

Finally, Rhiati had reached their limit. Aselin seemed to always be getting in trouble out on the edges of the city, and Rhia couldn't focus on their studies when they were so worried anyway, so they made a decision. For both their sanity and their moirail's wellbeing, they decided to visit more often at the expense of their studies. Because of this, Rhia quickly fell behind, and once their lusus found out, all hell broke loose. Each time they left to visit, Rhia would be gone for most if not all of the night because of the long trip, and when they got home, there was nothing but arguing awaiting them. Home life was miserable, so Rhia turned their sights on something better. They wanted to help Aselin with his endeavors. Unfortunately, Aselin's current line of work was far too dangerous, so each time the indigo asked to tag along, the burgundy told them no. In truth, Rhia didn't fully understand what it was Aselin did, but they figured they could be of *some* help... somehow. He fought monsters of some kind. Surely if they couldn't fight, they could help with supplies or... something, right? Well, one night Rhia decided to see for themself.

They were told to stay put the night Aselin was called to help the guild while Rhiati was visiting. They should've listened... but they truly just wanted to help. Not just to have some form of purpose in their life again, but also to ensure their moirail stayed safe. They swore they were just going to follow from a distance and see what the fuss was about. They weren't going to get directly involved. They promised they wouldn't. And yet, it wasn't enough... They really should have stayed put.

Shadow droppers. Those were most often the monsters Aselin was fighting off at the edges of the city. Massive, near impossible to kill creatures. And one of them had spotted Rhiati peeking from behind some debris. Everything happened so fast after that, Rhia can hardly recall. The next thing they knew, they were on the ground in a pool of their own blood. Fortunately, after a blurry sequence of events, Rhia did survive, but they would never be the same.

"Please tell me it's going to be ok."

"I can't do this on my own."

Rhiati had always been more reserved than their highblooded peers. They had a habit of asking more questions, too. Not aloud, mind you... they knew where those sorts of questions would land them, but they sure did keep more of an open mind than anyone around them would've liked. Rhia was regarded as incredibly inquisitve and bright, but was often held back due to their timid nature. However, when it truly mattered, Rhia was known to make a stand for what they thought was right.

Currently, Rhia often struggles moreso with speaking their mind than they have in the past. Because of the accident, and the terrifying reality of slowly transitioning into a mindless monster, they seem to have retreated deeper into the shell they've never been able to truly break free from. Always on the edge of their seat, Rhia will do whatever it takes to ensure they aren't a threat to themself or anyone they care for. Their paranoia often keeps them up at night, and this exhausts them to no end, but they're really just trying their best out here. Overall, Rhia is anxious, kind, and struggling to come to terms with their horrific situation.

Likes being alone (or with Aselin), quiet spaces, reading, writing, and learning about the world around them.

Dislikes talking about their situation, their violent outbursts, talk of the future, loud noises/spaces, crowds, offending/harming others, and brussels sprouts.

personality

Forever thankful for him and all he's done, Rhia holds Aselin in incredibly high regard. There isn't another troll on Alternia they'd rather have by their side.

After their last argument, and all that followed suit, Rhia hasn't looked back. Their old life back hive is dead, and so to is their relationship with their lusus.
