He had been a part of Charna pack since he was young (and stupid), being one of her brutes with Rigel when they came across Cicitraz. During the seasons when the two packs were fighting, Traz ended up reaching out to Kaerylt, recognizing Kaer wasn't just dumb muscle. Traz convinced Kaer to try and talk Boda down - which he nearly did but for the actions of one of the younger members of Brotherhood. Boda flew into a rage, attacked to renew the war, but Kaer literally got in the way, taking on both Boda *and* Rigel. Despite his size, strength and ability, this nearly got himself killed, but it gave the Brotherhood time to actually leave. 

A little under a year later, the Brotherood came across the massively scarred ursa and most did not recognize him, but Traz did and welcomed the old warrior with open paws. Kaer sort of stays on the outskirts of the pack, as if unwilling to fully commit but likes Traz and is grateful for the home he's been offered.

Boda has not forgiven Kaer for what she sees as a betrayal and blames both him and Traz for the loss of most of her pack. To this day, she now keeps Charna small, but has learned to not pick fights with *entire* packs again.
