ARTHUR

Oh, I go off like a gun, like a loaded weapon. Bang, bang, bang, grip me in your hands.

Key Information

Detective Arthur DeWittt had always been old-fashioned when it came to his work. In a world where androids had become an integral part of law enforcement, he was one of the last remaining detectives who still preferred the human touch. Androids, he thought, were nothing more than soulless machines, incapable of understanding the intricacies of human nature.

And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark aimed right at my throat
'Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me, yeah

History

It was the year 2045, and the city of NeoMetropolis had embraced artificial intelligence and android technology to maintain law and order. But Arthur was a holdout, a relic from a bygone era when gumshoe detectives relied on their instincts and intuition rather than lines of code.

One chilly evening, Arthur found himself assigned to a high-profile case: the murder of a prominent tech billionaire, Victor Huxley. The case was making headlines, and the pressure to solve it was immense. He had no choice but to work alongside an android partner, ADA-205, as mandated by the department.

As Arthur walked into the sleek, sterile precinct, he couldn't help but resent the fact that he was now tethered to a machine. ADA-205, a tall and impeccably dressed android with lifelike features, greeted him with a polite nod. "Detective DeWitt, I'm ADA-205. I look forward to working with you on this case."

Arthur merely grunted in response. He didn't trust androids, and he didn't want to pretend otherwise.

Their investigation led them through the dark underbelly of NeoMetropolis, from glittering tech megacorps to the grimy back alleys. ADA-205 proved to be efficient, processing data at lightning speed, and never tiring. But Arthur couldn't shake the feeling that something essential was missing. He missed the camaraderie of a human partner, the shared hunches, and late-night brainstorming sessions over greasy diner food.
