Summary
Born into a setting specifically for the trading and use of Fragments as tools, he was offered to the Ambassador Viress as a gift of good intentions by the leaders of Illvus. Initially she had no want or need for a child, as she often remarked her harem was worse than any family she could have had. But a Fragment could be a powerful ally and a flame elemental in the home of the dragons had a lovely sort of cliche to it.
She raised him to the best of her ability, dragging him along to all of her treaties and meetings with other races, presenting him first as a 'gift', then later as her ward, and on one occasion hes pretty sure she referred to him as son, though she wouldn't repeat it. He was offered every opportunity a child of the realm would have had and when he became of age, gained an apprenticeship with a prominent jeweler. His ability to mold metals and create flames of his own made his work exceptional.
Quartermaster
Once he had graduated from the jeweler and disciplined in his own craft, Viress offered him to the Beryllian, the warring council of a neighboring country. As their Quartermaster he would have access to some of their military decisions and be able to give her a link to yet another realm in her plan. As they are not currently at war, he has a lot of free time on his hands and is kept busy with his family and running messages for Viress.
There is nothing sinister in his placement, she simply thought he would thrive outside of Fieren and wanted a link to the Beryllian should things go south in the future. It suits him for now!
Trivia
- Vulcan has actually never lost a Splinter, as the most he sacrifices are small traits for helpers in his forge.
- He's definitely the type to yell out his attacks.
- The soot markings on his skin can rub off onto the things he touches.
- His lack of clothing is for his temperature, though hes practically prudish by dragon standards.
- Shouting matches between him and Viress are legendary and not to be interrupted.
