Kazumi Shimizu (清水和美 Shimizu Kazumi) is a playable character originating from Persona 3. She is one of the original members of S.E.E.S and a third year student at Gekkoukan High School. Although in the middle of studying at a university to acquire her teaching license, she is also seen as a member of the Shadow Operatives under Mitsuru Kirijo during the events of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

[[ temporary notes :: gonna actually write things out at some point but words are hard and I'm sleep-deprived. Kazumi is Team Mom™ and loves to look after people to the point where it can probably get annoying, mainly because it makes her seem super nosy and maybe a bit pushy depending on the situation. she is doing it of her own will and doesn't really look for anything in return, but instead is because she's doing it partly to help herself feel better about herself and who she is; in her opinion it's really selfish, but it does let her feel like she's doing something. she also just really hates talking about how she feels because she feels like she has to keep up that strong and happy facade since everyone around her has enough to deal with without her dumping her problems on them. it's not healthy and she knows it's not.

she likes to put herself deep into projects and work to keep herself busy, because she knows if she doesn't then she's just going to think about too much during the day. with how things are, she had to kind of grow up generally fast and never had much time for much else. thanks to that, she often shows up at the dorm tired on work days and tends to pass out on the couch. stress is a killer kids don't act like her.

she's v polite too, but not to the point where she's stiff. she'll always be sure to address people with honorifics if they don't have a specific affectionate nickname that doesn't require it (namely Shinji and Ken). Kazumi doesn't mind her underclassmen addressing her by her first name at all, honestly she welcomes it. ngl, watching the underclassmen in SEES inspires her. they're good kids, and it hurts her to see them be part of this nonsense. hell as long as she's been part of SEES she's still questioning where everything will end up. to be fair, Kazumi would get lost in thoughts even before all of this and think about where she'd end up/reflect on how she's lived her life, but the possible end of the world makes that come to the forefront even more. one of these days I'm gonna make everything coherent cause oh boy it just goes downhill from there and she ends up with years worth of emotional trauma that's never going to completely go away ]]

Story

Early Life

[[ this is really gonna take me forever to put together rip cause im still working out way too much ]]

• her mother died a few months after she was born due to being in poor health even before so it's just her and her dad at home
• she was a curious child and would ask her dad about her mom, but noticed how hard he'd try to be positive about things; she'd even asked him at one point if her dying was her fault, but he's a really good dad and of course told her that it had nothing to do with her
• though not like that stopped her from thinking about it; she's not dumb she can see how tired her dad is with how hard he's working to support the both of them, so from a young age she made it her goal to do what she can to at least help her dad around the house
• this is basically how she got her work ethic; she's a hard-working kid and people can tell (except now that she's older she kinda pushes that)
• once she was old enough, she did small things to earn money (namely babysitting and making treats) since they're not exactly very well off
• she met Akihiko, Shinji, and Laiko during middle school; Shinji more specifically through Akihiko but he thought she was odd and didn't really hang around her much until SEES
• her getting recruited was the stupidest shit ever because she was out shopping to get food to cook lunch for that week and got confused because there were these weird coffins all over the place all of a sudden
• yeah you'd think that a person with common sense would think this is weird but no this is Kazumi "I didn't realize a city-wide event was going to happen tonight" Shimizu
• Akihiko was kinda surprised to find her out there and brought her back to the dorm, and again like an idiot she decided to take up their offer on joining them after giving it some thought
• which was actually pretty good for them since they had just lost Shinji and were short on hands
• welcome back to time management feat. Kazumi because there's school, work, and Tartarus now all together so her schedule is rough

[[ temporary notes :: still working out things but it's just basically Kazumi talking about her past growing up with just her father after her mother passed away, and with it just being the two of them they're not entirely in the best place financially. between school and working here and there, she's kind of running herself ragged since she's not the best of taking care of herself. to Kazumi, her doing whatever she can is sort of a way of "making it up" to her dad for taking care of her by himself as well as subconsciously feeling responsible for her mother's death; because of this, she's gotten a habit of putting everyone else before herself and taken up that mother-like role to in a way make herself feel better ]]
