Scaramouche and Sophie were the first to directly meet while Sophie has held captive in Dottore's lab, where they were both having experiments done on them (though in Scaramouche's case, this was consensual). Though cruel on the surface, Scaramouche also took pity on Sophie as he disliked the doll comparisons Dottore made to it. He also thought her to be quite resilient for a human to have survived so much of Dottore's experimentation. Sophie, on the other hand, was originally captivated by Scaramouche's beauty when everything else around it was so bleak, though this feeling faded quite quickly. She was often left confused by their interactions, as his words would be harsh and uncaring and he was quick to anger, but his actions showed that he was trying to help it stay alive. With very little keeping her going, Sophie was ultimately grateful for any assistance she received.

Later, Sophie and Kazuha met during the Irodori Festival - Kazuha was an invited guest, while Sophie had tagged along with Albedo and Klee in order to try and investigate Scaramouche, knowing he was originally from Inazuma. Sophie stayed around Ritou and Narukami Island for the duration of the festival and was involved in the investigation into the notes left. Through this process, Kazuha and Sophie became friendly acquaintances, bonding over a shared love of poetry and nature, as well as their connections to the wind.

Kazuha and Scaramouche only meet in person in Sumeru. After reuniting in the Golden Apple Archipelago and having Scaramouche's past explained to him, Kazuha offered to assist Sophie in tracking him down, curious about who the person who brought down the Raiden Gokaden and spared his ancestor is. In their first meeting, they don't interact much, with Sophie and Scaramouche's confrontation taking the forefront. It's only later that they're given a chance to properly interact and connect with each other.

After Sophie escaped Dottore's lab, recovered at the Church of Favonius, and began adventuring, she became very anti-Fatui, though she still held a soft spot for Scaramouche for giving her even a little bit of kindness. However, when they meet as enemies, Scaramouche no longer exhibits the same care he had before. From Sophie's perspective, it doesn't understand why this change has happened or what the real Scaramouche is like. What it doesn't know is that Scaramouche has only become more and more invested in it, going out of his way to encounter it. As time goes on, it becomes more and more clear that Scaramouche does hold some affection her — he never gives any real consequences for her messing with Fatui plans, end even rescues her when several of his subordinates attempt to be proactive and "get rid of the thorn in his side", attacking her without permission.

During Unreconciled Stars, Sophie is a second Investigator hired to help The Traveler, Fischl, and Mona solve the meteor crisis. Though it isn't there when the Traveler first meets Scaramouche, after hearing the details, it knows exactly who they encountered. At Musk Reef, they briefly come to blows before Scaramouche can make his exit

The continue to have many altercations until the events of the Inazuma Archon Quests, where he is instead in Inazuma. Afterwards, Sophie travels to Inazuma during the Irodori Festival, accompanying its friend Albedo in the hopes of meeting Scaramouche or, at the very least, investigating him.
