SPECIES: Golden jackal x domestic dog mix (refers to himself as a “jackaldog”)

HEIGHT: 1 ft 6 in

BUILD: Owing to his jackal heritage, Hadrian is built lightly and his features are accented by sharp points. His ears are large and pointed, his nose sharp and eyes angled. His fur is very short and thin with a slight bit of scruff and his scraggly tail is crooked from an old break. Hadrian is small and unassuming, a silhouette of one who poses no physical threat. He is skinny with a narrow chest, has long, slender legs and a triangular face. Despite being mostly dog, Hadrian is shaped more like a jackal, with his long legs, small frame, angular features, and large ears. His dog heritage shows through in the thinness of his tail, color and shortness of his fur, and ears that are slightly smaller than a jackal’s. 

DANGEROUS EQUIPMENT: Hadrian wears a wide collar made of braided rubber tubing (vague visual example until I draw a ref). While it looks like a decorative collar, each tube is filled with a liquid neurotoxin. The toxin was once deadly, but has since expired and can no longer administer a deadly dose (unbeknownst to Hadrian). The rubber is soft enough that if bitten with force, the liquid will leak out. If the bitter liquid is consumed, it will cause tingling, numbness, stiffening of the muscles, and finally temporary paralysis within a span of a few minutes. The temporary paralysis wears off after about 15 minutes. The collar is only good for one use and would need to be rebuilt after being ruptured.

PERSONALITY: Outwardly to the denizens of Ukoo, Hadrian is mild-mannered, soft-spoken, and helpful. He seems a bit on the shy side, and bumbles a bit in social situations. He seems to try his hardest and even though he seems to be accident-prone, he has everyone’s best interests at heart and earnestly strives to do good. He’s made a name for himself as a trustworthy, friendly, helpful fellow.

Beneath the surface, however, is something devious with a love for chaos.

Hadrian was born and raised in Red Legion, wholeheartedly believing in their ideals. He became a Frumentarii, and set off to Ukoo. Hadrian has always enjoyed sabotage, undermining, and instigating chaos. He is honored to have the chance to pick apart Ukoo from the inside. Hadrian has worked hard to cultivate his mild-mannered persona. He conducts all acts of subterfuge in the open, each action something that could easily be mistaken as something innocent. If confronted, he does not seek to hide what he did, instead offering plausible excuses or reasoning, often helping to correct the damage done. He’ll often invite a potential witness to join him in the activity or to spend time with him, in an attempt to deflect suspicion. Hadrian is very cocky, though he rarely expresses it.

If he has his way, he will see Ukoo undone, slowly torn apart by the seeds of chaos. He hates their ideals, feeling that one must be useful in order to be valuable. There is no room for those who can’t make themselves useful (and superbly so). There can be no laggards, no laziness; those who can’t keep up should be cut out. 

He is fond of children, though he hardly has a soft spot for them. Hadrian is amused by their antics, by how easily they create chaos, and is endlessly fascinated by how malleable their ideals are. He also enjoys spending time listening to the chattering of birds and encouraging them to spread rumors. Hadrian is also sexist in a subtle, less overt fashion. He likes females, but doesn’t value their opinions as much as males and tends to be dismissive of them.

Hadrian’s mask never slips; he has let his persona envelop him completely. Will he become the persona consume him? When the day of reckoning comes, what side will he choose?

HISTORY: 

• Born and raised in the Red Legion

• Early on discovered a love of causing chaos

• During training, a large wolf frequently bullied him, in part due to his small size. That particular wolf was also of the mindset that physical strength was everything. Eventually, Hadrian had enough. Over the next few weeks, strings of “bad luck” seemed to follow the bully. The mishaps included stumbling into a fire ant nest, his armor unexpectedly falling apart during training, angry birds continually following him, diving at him and making a ruckus, weakened ground with small pitfalls, and a sudden flood of his den among other things. The mishaps left the bully exhausted, ill-prepared, and out of sorts. His performance grew worse and worse until the bully failed his test and lost his chance at advancement. When the announcement was made, Hadrian stepped forward to gloat and further humiliate the bully, detailing everything he’d done and how he’d done it.

• The ruckus caught Sallow’s attention, and he selected Hadrian to become Frumentarii.

• Hadrian went through training to hone his skills as a spy and saboteur

• Sallow assigned him to infiltrate Ukoo. Hadrian was tasked with spying on Ukoo, sending back information about weaknesses while working to damage morale, increasing internal strife, and damaging infrastructure. When the Red Legion eventually strikes Ukoo, Hadrian is to attempt to cripple their defenses to let the Legion in.

• Solomon escorted him to a region near Ukoo. On the journey, she filled him in on all she knew about Ukoo, including its history with the Makucha. He developed a particularly strong distaste for Ukoo, especially Guerrero. He sympathizes with the Makucha.

• Observed Ukoo for a while before staging a small rockslide near the borders. He loosened rocks, rigging them to fall when nudged correctly. He triggered the rocks to fall upon his back half and break his tail.

• His pained cries attracted Eyes, who came to his rescue. He thanked them and sought acceptance to Ukoo.

• He has been living in Ukoo since then, passing messages back to Red Legion, watching for any sign of weakness, and doing his best to secretly instill chaos, cause strife, and disrupt the infrastructure.

A note regarding this character: Hadrian is currently up to no good. However, he works very hard to ensure that he is not discovered, as he expects that Ukoo would kill him if he’s found out. Please do not bring OOC knowledge into IC. Hadrian works very hard to make sure he’s not suspicious, so your character shouldn’t immediately have an “off” feeling, guess really close to what he’s thinking, or immediately find him untrustworthy without cause. That said, if your character can pick up on clues from what he would outwardly be expressing in the thread, that’s awesome! Just please don’t have your character automatically suspect him. Please have your character only know what they see in the threads where they interact with him, and please message me if you want to have them know him from somewhere else (I’m not opposed to this, I’d just like to be in on it so we can plot and figure out how that’ll impact everything).

I also want to make a note that your character isn’t at risk by interacting with him. He’s not violent and I won’t have him do anything that would jeopardize your character, their rank, etc. unless you approach me and express interest in that kind of plot. I am VERY open to plotting with him, though!
