ABOUT
Lafayette Everglow, often nicknamed just "Fate", is the youngest of the three Everglow children to curse scholar Octavia Everflow. Fate grew up with their two older siblings, Albrecht and Cora, and almost from the start knew they were the odd one out of their family. They weren't as adept in magic as their older siblings, and they didn't pick up on things as quick either. Very quickly, the three's mother favored Albrecht and Cora over Fate, doubly so when the two made it into the Emperor's Coven. Fate struggled even harder with their studies without the help of their siblings being home, and Octavia sought to make Fate useful in a different way.
When Fate was 13, Octavia cursed them using one of the scrolls she was studying. Fate's curse worked differently than other curses and only activated when they were exceptionally upset. Fate, confused and scared, turned into the chimera beast right then and there. Octavia wasn't prepared for the beast that their child would turn into upon the curse being complete, and was gravely injured, long gash marks scarred her face. When Fate came too from the curse, they were blamed for their mother's injuries and told that it was all their fault. That if they had been a better child this wouldn't have happened in the first place. Fate internalized this, feeling like they were the cause and blame of everything in their life. If they were just better none of this would have happened. But with internalization comes resentment, and as Fate began to grow up, their mother studying them and their curse in the process, Fate began to get more and more angry.
Until one day Fate broke free in their Chimera form. They ravished the countryside and killed several innocent witches. They were only stopped when the Emperor's Coven arrived and restrained them. The only reason they weren't put down right there was because Albrecht and Cora recognized their Chimera form. They were allowed to live, and instead tried in front of the Emperor himself. Fate was prepared to accept their death and execution, but the Emperor seemed to take interest in how their curse worked. He offered to train Fate, so that maybe they could learn to control their curse, and use it for benefit, instead of as a crutch.

NOTES / trivia
- Fate cannot control themself in their chimera form! They will also not remember what they did while in that state.
- all of the chimera's teeth are black, not just its fangs!
- Fate can become over stimulated very easily, they often go non-verbal and things can make them snap a lot easier
- Their favorite kind of magic was beastkeeping before they were cursed.
CONNECTIONS
EMPEROR BELOS || Partner...?
Fate met Emperor Belos personally after a time when they transformed and ravaged a whole village. Belos seemed interested in their curse and how it was activated by their emotions and decided to allow them to live and to personally train them in their powers. What started out as simple training session however, very quickly turned into more, when Belos started taking more and more of an interest in Fate. He often indulges in some of Fate's less than savory fantasies involving their family members, telling them that these fantasies are justified and okay. Fate isn't entirely sure about that, but this is the most positive attention they've gotten before.
GAIUS || Friend
Gaius is the Golden Guard while Fate is around in the palace. The two do not get off no the right foot, Gaius is much too serious and particular to Fate's liking. Despite this, Fate does hold some respect for Gaius. His skill in batte is commendable, and he seems to give Fate genuinely advice on how to calm themself down when they get upset. However, Gaius constantly tried to get in between Fate and Belos, which angers both of them. Fate doesn't need anyone trying to be a father to them.
ALBRECHT EVERGLOW || Brother
Fate loves their older brother, but resents him for his natural talent when it comes to doing magic. Albrecht never had to try to do magic, and their mother always lavished Albrecht with praise. Fate hated this, and well as hated the fact that Albrecht was often too dense to notice the treatment their mother was giving to them. Fate gets along with him fine, but they aren't planning to have any deep discussions with him.
CORA EVERGLOW || Sister
Fate gets along with their sister better than their brother, but not very much. Cora is a hardass, wanting stuff to go in order and everything to be in order, which pisses Fate off when they feel that they're doing stuff properly. However, despite all this, Cora always made an effort to pay attention to Fate when she came home to visit, talking about things they wanted to talk about and such. Fate wants to have a close relationship with her, but their personalities often just clash too much.
FAITH EVERGLOW || Self
A fake. A cheap imitation puppeting around a face and body that isn't theirs.
Fate hates them.
