Fathom had a very lonely life when he hatched. It was very cold and there were huge chunks of ice everywhere. As an egg Fathom fell into an almost hibernate-like sleep to keep his body warm. So for however long he was in the egg he was slowly growing. He was big for a hatchling and this gave him a stimulated growing period so in the future he would be well over 6 foot in length and about 5 foot eleven in height. Since he was such a big hatchling his odds of survival soared.

Reason for discoloration: Because Fathom is a Manokit/shark he must hatch under certain conditions. About 3/4 of the way through his incubation his egg was stolen and he was brought to a very cold place. These events made him become very hypothermic in the egg and he lost color in his tail and toes. He also grew more fur to accommodate the freezing conditions. Had he not been removed from the beach his tail would have been royal blue with gold stripes and his toes would have been gold. He also lost the extra fins on normal shark tails by the base where it connects to the body. This was due to his egg being too cold. He also has horns instead of huge ears because the cold froze his ears and they molded back into his head following the curve of the egg and hardened, forming the horns he now has. Due to it being so dark where he was his eyes have glow in the dark strips around them along with his gums that glow in the dark, so he can see better underwater and in dark spaces. His eyes are also somewhat starlike, meaning it’s hard to see his pupils at times. This also helps him see in the dark because his eyes can adapt quickly to darkness. The reason for his patterning is because his body was trying to move heat down to keep him alive in the egg. Because of this the gold drips are big by the shoulder and thigh area and continue down getting smaller and smaller until it reaches the toes where it is white. The middle of his body has no markings at all because that was the origin of the heat. All of the larger gold drips are where the heat sources were more hot, hence why his toes are white because no heat could get there. His horns are gold because when heat would come to his brain and vitals it would pulse, and since his ears were froze in the egg extra heat had to go up so they didn’t fall off. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough heat to unfreeze them completely and have ears again, only enough to solidify the horns.
