When he was a baby, his hometown was destroyed by evil creatures – the Schatten – that "infect" others to turn them into their kind or they die while transforming. But Raphael somehow survived even infected. He just got their red eyes (and some fancy super human strength). But because red eyes are a sign of evil in this world he always covers them with some kind of sunglasses. He somehow ended up as a royal knight and enjoys some privilegs in the kingdom and does all kinds of dangerous missions for his living. His personality is the grumpy indifferent guy with intimidating aura. He's doesn't talk much and is rather egoistic. And he loves using guns instead of swords (even if he has one as well)
He is on good terms with the Queen, sometimes she's very playful or even strict with him though.
