Story

Character Stories 1

Once a little bird, took flight on his little wings and flew across green landscapes with no mission in mind. The little black bird was free, and free he would stay. He was not tied down by the mortal idea of gravity and could go where his heart desired.

But what's this? Something that glimmers in the sun has caught his eye? So down, down the little crow flies, his eyes mesmorized by the shiny coin in this person's possession.

"What are you doing here, crow?" A voice asks, and the little bird only dips his head. He wants the shiny object that had caught his attention, nothing more. The voice laughs and hands over the piece of mora, watching as the crow pokes at it with his beak. The bird takes the coin, and flies away.

This is only the beginning of a long friendship.

Character Stories 2

The bird returns, and the person always has something of interest for him. Coins, chains, little knicknacks that light up in the sun, the crow takes and takes, returning each day for something new.

One day, the crow finds the person outside with something new in their hands. This interests the little crow, and he curiously caws. The person rips off a piece for the bird, and he eats. Oh. This was something new, something fun, something yummy. This, the crow liked. And so, it begins.

Soon, the person has the crow eating out of his hands, and the bird finds himself spending more and more time with this person. This person named Rukkhadevata. "Here, Crow." They would call, and the bird would answer. It becomes normal to see the Dendro Archon roaming Sumeru with a crow ( a so called bird of death ) on their shoulder.

But not all good things last.

Character Stories 3

The little bird grows old, and soon, the little bird is no longer little. Yet, he stays by Rukkhadevata's side, through sickness and health. He has decided to spend the rest of his days with this person, this person who feeds him, who cares for him, and who warms him on cold nights.

Crows however, do not live for a very long time. This one has already exceeded his average lifespan out of pure determination to stay with his person for a little while longer. He has carried messages, warned troops and even served as a symbol of power for the archon. He will not die now.

But he is just a bird, and he is not immune to the call of nature. One cool winter night, the bird closes his eyes, and never opens them again. A light greets him, and in true crow fashion, he spreads his wings towards the bright light.

"Wake up little bird, I have a job for you."

Character Stories 4

The crow opens his eyes, but he is no longer confined in a little feathered prison. He has arms and legs, a smooth face and even hair sprouting from his head. "Guide those who are lost with the same dedication you gave to Rukkhadevata." He hears, and then. He is gone.

Self dubbed as Kro ( as it was all Rukkhadevata would call him ), the newly reborn spirit guide is filled with the urge, the need to see Rukkhadevata. But it has been a few years since his death as a crow, and the third archon war has arrived. He is far too busy with the new onslaught of deaths to search for his life long friend. He is not even sure the archon will know him.

Go to the chasm. His instincts tell him, and Kro follows. The death there is overwhelming, the world is tearing itself apart. But Kro works, he promised his dedication, and they will get it. A cry that seems to echo in his ears shakes him out of his stubor. He knows that voice, the same voice that would call out his name so affectionately.

For the first time, Kro speaks. "No, Rukkhadevata!"

Character Stories 5

Kro hated his new life, in all his time as a spirit guide, never would he think he would have to guide his old friend's soul through the afterlife. He almost refused, but he would not forgive himself for allowing someone else to guide this person he holds so dear to his heart. Rukkhadevata does not even recognize him.

"I wonder if that bird is waiting for me." The archon mumbled, but the words could have been shouted. Kro stopped in his tracks and turned around, the former archon now staring at him. Kro can't stop the small voice that breaks out of his throat. "He is." They are at a standstill, and Kro can't take it. He breaks.

For the first time, Kro cried. And not even Rukkhadevata's recognition can comfort him. Kro may forgive Rukkhadevata's death, but he will never forget.

The one who struck Rukkhadevata down will face his blade.

Story

HELLO

Oh hello there, do you need something. Any unfinished business you need concluded before- oh. You aren't just any lost soul. Actually you seem quite alive to me. My mistake, the living usually don't bother with me, so this is quite nice. My name is Kro, and I'm a guide for spirits. What spirits you might ask? Well, the dead of course! It's been my duty for the past six hundred years or so, I lost count after the first hundred. It's so very nice to meet you though, the living are always so much more . . .living than the dead! Now, who might you and your curious companion be?

CHAT: BIRDS

I love birds, actually I envy them sometimes. Just the freedom to be able to fly where the mind wishes. To be able to pack up everything within a day and search for a new place to settle down, it's admirable. However, I would not trade anything for the life I am living right now. I speak from personal experience. Birds are free, but there are so many things they cannot do.

CHAT: DUTY

My duty will always be to the souls of the dead. I am only one of hundreds of spirit guides that roam Teyvat. I dedicate myself to helping the dead with unfinished business and allowing them to peacefully crossover. Of course, I could never do it alone. I actually work quite closely with a certain funeral parlor director from Liyue.

CHAT: HOME

Home. . .that's a topic I haven't spoken about in a while. I guess, home can be wherever you want it to be. To me, my home will always be Sumeru, but it's not because of the reason you think it is. I may have been born there, but it's not the thing that's keeping me there.

WHEN IT RAINS

Oh the rain! How it pours down, I hate getting soaked!

WHEN THUNDER STRIKES

Eep! Thunder is never good weather for traveling, and I mean it! Do you know how many people get struck by lightening?

WHEN IT SNOWS

It's cold! This reminds me of a long lost memory of curling up by a warm fire with a comforting presence at my side.

WHEN THE SUN IS OUT

Sunshine is the best weather in my opinion, everything is just so much more shiny!

GOOD MORNING

Good morning traveler, it's another wonderful day to be alive! Let's not let it go to waste.

GOOD AFTERNOON

Good afternoon traveler. What, where you expecting me to say more?

GOOD NIGHT

Good night, sleep tight traveler. I'll try to be here when you wake up, but now is the time when I really get busy so please don't fret if I'm not.

ABOUT KRO: THE DENDRO ARCHON

The previous Dendro Archon . . . was what I might call a friend, though I'm not sure they would consider me the same. Regretfully, I passed away before I could tell them, and now, well. You see where we are. They were lost in the chasm, and I. I wander the earth with a task of my own. Perhaps one day, we will meet again, though I doubt it will ever be under the same circumstances as before.

ABOUT KRO: THE PAST

My past? If you are so curious, then I might as well tell you. Some of it at least, there are some things that I do not think need to be shared. I wasn't human in my past life, but I lived comfortably until the end of my days. It's all thanks to Celestia that I stand here before you now, as a human no less.

ABOUT KRO: BAKED GOODS

I love baked goods! Bread, cakes, cookies, I'm not picky. I just love as good treat once in a while, it's something that I carry close to my heart and reminds me of a good friend.

ABOUT US: SPIRITS

One day, we will all pass on and join the many spirits wandering the world. And then a guide such as myself will bring you to the afterlife. it's our job, and our pleasure.

ABOUT US: FORMALITIES

You really don't have to be so formal with me, sure I deal with death and ghosts almost every day but I'm not scary I promise. I'm just a little bird who's living far beyond his years because of a blessing by a higher power.

ABOUT THE VISION

I'm not sure where I got my vision, but it was there when I woke up. I also can't seem to remove it, I even tried to throw it off a boat into the sea, if you'll believe it. I'm almost ashamed of that fact. So now I can't get rid of it, it's my own piece of Rukkhadevata that I carry with me.

SOMETHING TO SHARE: SPRITE

This little dude? I'm not sure where they come from, but I assume they are young souls that are not ready to pass on yet. I'm fine with them hanging around, I will give them closure until the time comes.

SOMETHING TO SHARE: FEARS

There are few things I am scared of, but the biggest one that I can think of is fire. I don't want to end up on someone's place as a sweet madame thank you very much.

INTERESTING THINGS

Squawk! Squawk! Do you think the birds understand me?

ABOUT RAKKHADEVATA

My dear old friend, and dare I say master? I befriended them as a crow and served at their side for the entirety of my life. They are the reason Celestia gave me a second chance at life. It makes me sad to think that they have passed, but at least I was allowed the closure of guiding them through the afterlife and to where they belong. I should visit them soon, now that you mention it.

ABOUT KUSANALI

The new Dendro Archon? She is doing a good job ( at least I think so ) But she is a young child and has big shoes to fill. I will continue to watch over her, per Rakkhadevata's wishes.

ABOUT HU TAO

Hu Tao and her family. . .I've worked with them for generations, though I'm not sure they know of my existance. I do think Hu Tao knows I exist, maybe I'll say hi to her one day.

ABOUT QIQI

I remember this young child. She appeared in the afterlife, but as I tried to speak to her, her soul was ripped away. Imagine how shocked I was to stumble upon her centuries later in the Liyue Harbor!

ABOUT BAIZHU

This man. . .I have nothing against him but I am still keeping a close eye on him. I'm not sure what he's up to, or why he keeps that zombie child near him. Dealing with life and death is not a good idea. . .

ABOUT CELESTIA

I don't really have much to tell about Celestia, all I know is that they are the reason I am still here today.

ABOUT KRO: I

More about me? What is there to tell? I mean, I'm just another wandering spirit guide who happens to have taken an interest in you.

ABOUT KRO: II

My eye? There's nothing wrong with it, if that's what you're wondering. It just looks like this, though I would think it comes from the fact that this is my second life. I have an eyepatch, but I seem to have . . . conveniently lost it. Is it unnerving?

ABOUT KRO: III

As someone who deals with death, you would think I wouldn't have anything against the dark. And I mean, I don't. But does it really have to block all the light so nothing shines anymore?

ABOUT KRO: IV

I can't stay in one place for too long. There's always lost spirits to be guided, or unfinished ghost business to work on. Like seriously, can you humans stop needing messages delivered when you die? You're dead. . . I don't understand. I want a break.

ABOUT KRO: V

If we were to ever go our seperate ways, no worries. We will meet again on the other side, I will fight the other guides to have the honor of escorting your soul.

KRO'S HOBBIES

I like traveling. And napping. And travel napping. Nothing like climbing the nearest tree and taking a nap. It's actually really fun, you should try it some time.

KRO'S TROUBLES

Do you ever have such a strong feeling of home and heartache, but you don't know why? It happens to me quite often, even though I can pass through Sumeru almost every day.

FAVORITE FOOD

Anything sweet, but definintely if it involves bread. I was a bird in my past life what were you expecting?

LEAST FAVORITE FOOD

Mint Jelly. Or any kind of jelly. Why does it move. Why can it move on it's own, it's food it shouldn't be able to do that.If it can move around on my plate at the slightest push, then there is no way you can make me eat it. No.

RECIEVING A GIFT: I

Is this for me? Thank you, I've heard a lot about your culinary genius.

RECIEVING A GIFT: II

This cooking is something I could eat every day, though I would never be against some fresh bread once in a while.

RECIEVING A GIFT: III

It seems. . .this particular dish is not within your culinary expertise. I'd be honest, but it would probably hurt your feelings.

FEELINGS ABOUT ASCENSION: INTRO

Huh? What's going on?

FEELINGS ABOUT ASCENSION: BUILDING UP

This is. . .strange, but I'm not against the idea.

FEELINGS ABOUT ASCENSION: CLIMAX

I haven't felt like this in. . .well. Forever! I feel like I could take to the skies once more!

FEELINGS ABOUT ASCENSION: CONCLUSION

Hmm, if this is my full potential as a reborn crow, then I wonder what will come next once this chapter of my life is over? Perhaps Celestia will have the answers. . .

Hello, my name is Kro and I will be taking care of you for the remainder of this trip. What trip? Why, you're dead of course. No, there are no exceptions or mistakes so if you have any unfinished business, I request that you let me know and it will be handled accordingly. If you don't, congrats! You're still dead with a one way ticket ( hint : it's me! ) to the afterlife.
