Profile

Classmate and adoptive sibling of Ayumu, a student of the martial arts gone rogue, giving in to a dark, corrupting influence.

Similar to their fellow orphan, the dojo was their home, where they grew up together since babies, as if both came from the same womb. However, as close as they were to Ayumu, they never got over the envy they felt. She was stronger, more fierce, determined, talented. Tired of being the second best student (and, in their eyes, second favorite child as well) of two, Akari turned to vanity and a life without worries in an attempt to distance themself from her and the dojo.
One night, out in the busy city, while drowning their sorrows of inferiority in a tavern, they met a peculiar man. Akari always had wished to be stronger than their sister, and this stranger claimed he could give anyone what their heart desired most. Intoxicated by alcohol and despair, they caved in, accepting the offer. Immediately, Akari felt a strange sensation tingle their fingertips. They turned black, like dead tissue. The man revealed himself as Death, and he just gave them the ability to kill with a simple touch. Devastated, they asked why he would do such a thing.
He revealed that Ayumu's strength was the most a person could attain without turning to deadliness, while still retaining the peacefulness acquired through the art. As much as it pained them to admit something so foolish, Akari did wish to become stronger than her. They begged for the change to be reverted, but Death just laughed, as he dissipated into the shadows. Now ashamed, besmirching the martial art they vowed to devote their life to, they slowly fell from grace, with the gangrenous corruption spreading through their fingers as time went on.

For years, they hid their condition with gloves, but nevertheless, the unholy murderous intent eventually revealed itself. One day, Akari attempted to leave the dojo, before Ayumu and their sensei took notice of what was like a terminal disease of the soul. However, sensei blocked their path, saying neither child would leave the dojo, their home, until her death. But this statement had only brought forth what the necrotized flesh desired most. Sensei ended as just any other obstacle would for the rest of Akari's life, slashed in half.
