The Matriarchs

The Five Primordial Matriarchs are the beings responsible for the creation of the planet, each representing a fundamental element, from which all others spawn from.

    In an order of least to most powerful and influential to the world's creation and upbringing, they are Fire, Earth, Air, Aether (Light) and Water.
    The interactions between them are what originate lesser gods, who represent more specific elements. Even among the same pair, different interactions spawn different gods, such as Metal (Isarn), Brimstone (Eigil), or Obsidian (Amon) all being born of Fire and Earth's complicated history.

    The Matriarchs have a zero tolerance policy for pollution, poaching and other environmental crimes in their respective areas; except for Fire, who tries to justify it as a current necessity for mankind's progress. Earth is the most tolerant, as the one with most mortal intervention present (resulting in her stoicism), and Air as the least, with the least intervention (resulting in her mood swings).
     Despite a high level of mortal intervention, Water prides herself for being so extremely difficult to tame by mortals, much to Fire's dismay. Aether is often indifferent to current matters, unless they have the potential of unleashing great consequences later on, and is interested mostly in the grand scheme of things only.
